Agreed. He's not the kind of guy to put a team on his shoulders and carry them to victory. But if you surround him with a good running game and/or a solid D, he can definitely win you some games. I'm glad we have him as a backup. It's when he's the full-time starter that scares me.

Collins is a fantastic backup QB. The problem is that he's paid like a starting QB.

I agree Jesse but what team has a guy like that? That's why they're number 2's. Heck Most #1s arent good enough to carry their team to the SB.

The guy stepped up big time in 2008. It's not money that would go to CJ or such. Bud's got plenty if he wants to spend it. Being mad at Kerry making good money makes zero sense.

Seems kfc had a pretty good run game in 2009 and managed to go 0-6

The defense was god-awful though. I said it then, and I'll say it again, Collins wasn't the reason we went 0-6.

That being said, he didn't win us any games either. The team needed motivation, a fresh start, and Vince did it.

If Vince had started all season, we probably would've made the playoffs, where we consistently cannot compete with the big dogs in the AFC (Pats, Colts, Chargers, sometimes Ravens) and got our trademarked 1st round exit.
Our defense was too porous to take us anywhere. Vince couldn't muster up enough magic to overcome that.

Here is my problem with KFC. I'd much rather have a backup in place who can give VY competition and maybe even take his job. KFC is not a permanent solution. He's a bandaid. Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Kurt Warner were all backups at one point who came in and had extraordinary success. Chad Henne is maybe the most overlooked QB in the NFL but he's got a cannon and if it wasnt for him backing up Pennington he wouldnt have gotten his shot. We need a guy like this on our roster, not KFC.

My problem with KFC is the fact that he is on the roster means we are wasting a precious developmental spot where we could develop a guy to take over if VY gets hurt and maybe even take his job and become the face of the franchise like so many other backups have stepped up over to be.

Is Rusty the answer? Who knows.. We tend to drop 3rd string QBs like they are a bad habit. This is why I like preseason. We will get to see what this guy can do, maybe he can be the guy.

kfc was worse than spiking the ball when the game was on the line - pathetic

but according to JF he is not the reason for the bad start. Granted he could not catch the ball as well as throw it, but come on all those could not be his fault.

Here's VYs comparable stats. Note VY is not noted as a pure pocket passer - not that there's anything wrong with that!

Remember the bomb against Pittsburgh that Nate Washington dropped?
VY did play against a lot of bad defenses. What if we played the Chargers for all 16 games?
