I dont see how they could stick with Ringer, when CJ is getting a break it would make more logic to use a big power back to change pace and wear down the defense. Ringer isnt as powerful as Blount and he is rather slow for a RB. i liked ringer as the #2 before we got Blount. but i just dont see Fisher not sticking the big power back in there to give a LB and blount force hit.

anyone else see Blount taking the #2 spot?

I think Ringer and Blount will be interchangeable when it comes to playing time. I do think we will go with Blount though in most short yard and goal line situations.

It will go like this. Blount WILL be the #2 to offer the Smash and Dash style we payed with in 08. While Ringer will be the spell back for CJ.

No, I really wouldn't. He's a big back with no wiggle and stiff hips. He had four career catches in college and played in a gimmick offense without having to block in a pro-style offense.

Stafon Johnson played in a pro-style offense at USC, so blocking isn't as big of an issue. I think he's a gamer and will show what he can do once the pads go on.

Whoever the third back is will have to play special teams well enough to even be considered for the roster.

Stiff with no wiggle? Yeah... that Brandon Jacobs guy sucks due to that too, right?

Not only that, but to say Blount- a guy known to either be able to run LBs over OR juke/spin past them just says... you've never seen the guy play much.

You don't get the love for Blount but you then big-up Stafon Johnson? Seriously? Show me ONE impressive run Johnson had in college. Just one. And I'll show you 10 of Blounts to better any one you find. He's a great story. A guy you have to pull for- but we know nothing about what he can do- because he's shown very little.

Blount was the #2 back the day he arrived in Nashville.

    Period.

First off, Brandon Jacobs' career high is 1,089 yards. Lendale White has that beat. He's overrated because he plays for the Giants. He laid the boom that year, but what has he done since?

Secondly, I don't doubt that Blount is the better athlete of the two, but I think Johnson fits in better with what he's going to be primarily used for. Ringer was the third back last year and had eight carries. Whoever gets the last running back spot isn't going to run the ball, they're going to play special teams.

As for Blount being the number two the second he got here. Do you really think we would have been that worried about Ringer to go the entire draft/free agency without getting a back as insurance and hope that Blount would be there in free agency?

Ideally, I'd like them to sign a vet who's been around a few years instead of having 3 guys behind CJ with a combined eight carries in the NFL.

Blount won't take Ringers spot because right now he doesn't know the protection schemes. You aren't going to have him in there on 3rd and long where he has to pick up a blitzing LB
