    lol

won 1 game out of 4

I'm not a soccer hater, but I just don't see it making major inroads in US culture. Of course this is just 1 guys opinion.

Americans sure seemed to be interested in it these past few weeks...

That was the most intense sporting event (for the entire match) I've seen in a long time.

So many chances, just couldn't get any luck in the 2nd.

The NFL doesn't even start for another 3 months, basically... and Soccer is as real a sport as it gets. No timeouts, no stopping every 5 seconds, etc.

One thing's certain- Soccer has 100x's the chance of getting big in the US as the NFL has of being big anywhere outside of America. Why do you suppose that is? Hmm...

Americans love winners. As long as the team kept winning people would have payed attention. Not to mention, like you said, these games were incredibly entertaining because of the bad calls/comebacks.

I've actually come to like watching the World Cup. I put it on the same level as the Olympics, a sport I couldn't care less about for three years until its a world event.

^yeah. I figure that's how a lot of the viewers are. I love track too... but only during the olympics.

Soccer I watch always, but it's tough due to timezones and tv time. I follow Manchester City the best I can. If it were easier to be a soccer fan in the US, I'd bet that'd at least help. Instead, espn would rather show Darts, Poker, or Rodeos.

darts, poker and rodeo are way cheaper than EPL rights.

I just wish ESPN, or somebody, would bring back AFL. Everyone I knew loved watching it, even if we didn't quite understand it - lol

It happens every 4 years. Countries where soccer isn't the major sport (ie. USA, Australia) get into it around World Cup time IF they make it. Then there is the talk how it will take over.
3 other years no one gives a crap, the crowds still suck in comparison to the other sports and all good talents are poach to EPL or other Euro leagues which doesn't let the leagues here actually build anything other then farm leagues.

Soccer will never be as big as AFL or NFL.

Great matches continue today. England getting killed. Germany on a roll. Tournament just getting started and building to a great finish.

MLS all star game coming up too. Americans loving it. Philadelphia about to open their new stadium to a sell out. At least 35,000 plus. It's like you guys don't even watch the news. Huge attendance expected. Fans are charged up.
