For those that do not live in the area. The Opryland mall, so-to-speak, was built were the Opryland amusement park use to be. In order to build the mall, the ground on which it was to be built, had to be raised 10 feet above the 100 year flood plan. Gaylord, part owners of the mall at the time, (They sold it a couple years ago), took a mountain of dirt from the other side of the road and raised the site above the flood level. It stands 10 feet above the 100 year flood plan and it flooded.
This area around Opryland is just plan bad! The tornado that ripped through Nashville several years ago made a stop here and tore Gaylords business offices up.
Other than that. Hope to see you all in Nashville this summer spending that vacation money!

Had they left it an amusement park- something people actually would like to visit more than once every 2 years, the flood probably wouldn't be such a big deal.

Hate Opry Mills. Just another mall, but with crappier stores than normal malls.

Everyone would be convinced it's real if they'd ignore weather and actually learn what 'climate' is.

Whether they think it's man-controlled or not. It exists. Whether it'll be the end of the world or not. It exists. Not a hard concept, either. We learned about global warming in 4th grade. That was 18 years ago... this isn't a new theory or study.

To clarify, I mean I was convinced because JC was calling it BS - not the flooding.. Once you take the politics out of global warming there is no denying it..

Lol, I may be a Titans fan so in the end were friends. But you guys need to lay off the moonshine down there if you think global warming is real.

As for whoever said learn climate instead of weather. Take another look at the C word you just used. It makes cycles...just sayin...

Now time to get something to drink, all the flaming is going to make me sweat. :ha:

It's pretty rare I agree you with and now twice in one day.

I hated when they decided to go to the mall, I miss the amusement park.

There may be an out -- doesn't flood insurance cover property only? I'd bet that Opryland's loss of business during that time will likely be more than the cost to replace/repair everything that was damaged. Hopefully Gaylord has a business interruption policy with limits above $50 million.

I'm not as concerned for Gaylord, as I am for the families that lost their homes and loved ones...
