    Oh come on CC.

We all knew you'd hate this. Probably didn't even go watch it before typing this one.
It's who you are. You hate new stuff. It's alright.

Shows what you (don't) know.. as usual.
There is tons of new horror that I enjoy and I post quite a few of those flicks here.. I'm a Jackie Earl Haley fan and was looking forward to seeing this movie. saw it at the first showing Friday afternoon. Next.

It's got a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes so CC isn't the only person who hates it, everyone hates it.

This last bit from an online review says it all:

In terms of fright, this film strives for nothing more than cheap thrills. Heavily relying on jump scare tactics, the same scene seems to take place throughout the entire film: kid fall asleep, it gets dark, we hear Freddy’s claws, and BAM!, something scary jumps out, scene. The film is very much a microcosm of today’s film environment. Watch, rinse, repeat.

I don't doubt that it's bad. ALL Nightmare on Elm Street movies are pretty bad.

Hell, most horror movies in general are pretty goofy and hard to watch with a straight face.

But we all knew CC would hate it, regardless. And he loves some goofy horror flicks.

You could tell the director is a career music video director, because he gets some scenes which require good visuals spot on - the scene in the pharmacy where the female character is drifting in and out of sleep is probably the best example. The problem with this film isn't the re-imagining of Krueger (I personally think Freddy Krueger was a stupid villain after the first film), and Earle tries his best to do something different.

The problem is that the film tries to be too similar to the first film, and the visual tricks in the original were very good. Now, spectacles of Krueger coming out of the wall or a victim being decimated over her bed are just rehashes and feel completely tame. Ironically, I thought the first death of the movie was the most original and the highlight of the film.

And that's the problem with these stupid "re-imagining" remakes - they don't re-imaging a single damn thing. Directors feel this need to have homages in their films, and I think that's great, expect when the homages become just a new CGI-take on an unneeded effect or idea. I didn't really expect anything different from this film going in, but it was worse than I expected.

When the highlight of the film is watching Clancy Brown in literally 3 scenes, you know your film is a disaster. (Side Note to those who have seen the film - I actually thought Brown was going to be incorporated into the plot, made to be some sort of accomplice to Krueger's molestation of children or something, which would have been original).
