You guys are freaking out because we traded our number 2 back and a very average defensive linemen. Lendale wanted out and was becoming a cancer to this team especially CJ. If Lendale would have stayed here he would have been nothing but a distraction. He would have been in Fishers ear, CJs ear, and the newspaper complaining about lack of playing time or why he should be getting more carries.

We got what we could for them, Lendale was on the block for the last month, and they had been shopping him all weekend. If this is the best they can get for him then so be it. Both would have been unrestricted free agents and would have left after this season. I honestly do not believe that Vickerson would have even made the team. We OVERVALUE our own players too much.

Who knows what TN could have actually rec'd for White or how many teams they talked to. It's just a possibility this is all they could get - and you know they didn't want to keep him. Vickerson, a bit more of a mystery but there's alway the possibility of post-draft releases etc. I think it's safe to safe the team knows more than we do here.
More fan-delusional fodder for the fire..

Proposed Value of Lendale & Trade

While somewhat suprising on surface, this shouldn't be too much of a suprise. Lendale wanted more carries, JF obviously didn't care. Lendale wanted to be traded. Lendale only given 2nd round tender (hint). He was obviously shopped for weeks but zero takers. FO apparently feels JR is adequate (possibly better) backup to CJ. Vickerson was depth at best and coming of a drug suspension in 2008. Both were represented by Rosenhaus who everyone knows is a PIA. Classic case of addition by subtraction (more JR) and younger DT depth with more upside potential. We can all wish we could've got more but I'm sure we got what we feasibly could. Their trade value is only what someone else is willing to give us. Doubt the Titans will miss them much if at all.

Basically White had zero value. We had to throw in Vickerson to make the trade a go. The Titans basically did White a favor and honored his request to be traded and he probably specified he wanted to go play for his college coach.

    1. Anyone who thought White had trade value was obviously wrong.
    2. Obviously the Titans were more than happy to send him packing.
    3. Fisher did the brat a favor and nothing else.
    4. Moving up in the 4th did assure the Titans got the CB left on the board they coveted at that spot. Making comments like we didn't have to move up to get the guy are speculative. We got the guy.

I'm glad we got the guy we wanted and am very happy with the pick.

and the number1 fanboi defends the Titans status quo again.... SHOCKER!

    Lendale White's value

    1) Good backup and goal line runningback. Insurance for CJ injury.

    or

    2) 7 spots in the 4th round.

I don't know why I'm surprised some of you defend and support whatever move the Titans make, but I'm still baffled on this one.

I'm sad to see Len go - right from when we drafted him, I thought for sure he'd be a face of the franchise's future for years - a bruising back in the same mould of Eddie George, and an incredible steal in round 2. Of course, things didn't pan out that way... The thing is, Len could have still had value in our system, but probably wouldn't have.

You don't overpay for short-yardage runners. All those goalline TDs he collected, who's to say CJ wouldn't have gotten those in anyway?

Len's tenure was over anyway. To get value for him is a definite plus. Vickerson was a useful but replaceable part of our rotation, whereas this DB is who we wanted for the future.

It's not massive value. Not by any means. The Seahawks might have come away from this better than we did. But if it's a matter of get minor value now, or get nothing later, the choice seems obvious. I wish the pair of them well in Seattle.
(You'll have to pardon me if I'm basically repeating what others have already said, I haven't had time to read the thread and am just pitching in my two cents)

you really think LenDale could have carried this team last year had CJ gone down with an injury? LenDale was getting stuffed at the line when he was on the field. He has no speed and when a defense stacks the box LenDale is useless. Yeah he is good at the goal line but without CJ we would'nt get to the goal line enough to make use of LenDale. LenDale is not a RB to count on to win games. I'm not worried about our running game, CJ will still get 1000+ yards next season with or without LenDale. We wont miss his 222 yards and 1 Lost Fumble he gave us last season.

Exactly. He's a good goal line at best, and last season the Titans opted to bang it in with their feature back most of the time, which was telling. Injury insurance? That worked out real well against Baltimore in the playoffs. He insured the Ravens a win. I was hoping he could bounce back after this past season, but this trade works too. He wanted to be gone, and now he's gone. I honestly liked him better as a person than a player, like Titanbuoy said. I wish him the best, but with his bellyaching about playing time and wanting to be traded, I'm glad we at least got something for him.
