People keep talking about trading back and still getting a top quality prospect. Well Houston might be that type of prospect.

He is by far the fastest 300 lb+ DT available in this draft!

    305 lbs

    4.84 40

    1.68 10 yard split

    30 reps

    33 1/2 vertical

Very active player with 7 sacks and over 50 tackles.

Had more sacks 7, and more tfl 16.5 than Kindle!

Knocked down 4 passes and had 10 hurries.

Plays big against the best competition.

vs Bama 10 tackles with 2 sacks.

vs Oklahoma 4 tackles 2 QB hurries

vs Texas tech 5 tackles 1 tfl

Great fit for our system with the size strength and speed to really create problems inside.

I would rather draft him than most of the top DE everybody thinks are so special.

Am i recommending another Texas player? Got to have my head examined. :ha:

Houston's numbers at Texas stack up equally or favorably to almost all the other top DT prospects.

1 more sack and 4 more tfl than Odrick.

Same number of sacks but with 9 more hurries than Price.

This guy is a big time player from a top program in a major conference. Unlike derrick morgan he did not feast off of nothing competition. He played his best football against the best.

Nice case you're making for Lamarr Houston. The thing I like about him is how easy he is to find on tape. He moves back and forth between the right and left defensive tackle positions, and has a beautiful pre-snap stance. He carries his weight well too. Also like how he's always able force the protection to slid with him allowing the ends to pursue into the backfield. Another plus is when he does get blocked, he keeps his feet moving.

He's not a guy who will get much bigger or stronger but has a great total package for Washburn to work with.

Nice video for both Houston and kindle from some really big games.

We talk about consistent pressure on the QB well Houston has 25 QB Hurries in 3 years there. In 08 he had an off year due to injuries but still had 7 QB hurries and 4 batted passes.

The combination this past year of 16.5 tfl, 7 sacks, 10 hurries and 4 blocks is outstanding for a DT!

I just don't think we need another DT. Haye, Vickerson, Jones, and Brown will do just fine. Plus we drafted Marks in the 2nd round just last year. With 5 guys all wanting playing time at DT, do you really think we need 6?

You build a really strong case for Houston RT. I've seen him play quite a bit, he is pretty impressive. I just don't know that we're looking at DT. Marks with 2nd last year and I think we give Haye another year to make a impact.

Roll, I like me some LHouston! I've been talking this dude up for over a year now. He came to UT as a RB! He is a tireless worker, non-stop motor. I would rather have him than Marks, I don't see anything in marks but Gold teef. I would love to trade back, pick up a DE/CB with a late 1st rounder, then get LHouston in the 2nd, and then let Haye go.

I'd like this guy, but we need a DE or CB in the 1st round badly. If we can somehow pick up a 2nd and this guy is there, I'm all for getting him. That could mean trading Lendale, other picks, or a combination of both on draft day if it gets to mid-2nd and he's still there. Just please, don't trade away next year's 2nd rounder.

Wouldn't be against it if it were a value pick.
