I agree completely. He can return punts for us and solve that problem. Plus he'd give us another playmaker on offense. If he's there in the 3rd I'll be surprised. Seems more like a 2nd rounder to me. What's he projected at? I remember he had a great Senior Bowl.

Gilyard didn't have a terribly good combine though. If I'm not mistaken scouts say; he doesn't possess elite speed and will have a hard time getting off the line.
If Bryant or Spiller are available when we draft; I hope we draft either of them OR TRADE the pick to a team who DOES want them and believe me there are plenty of teams that want them. Please lets not just select Kyle Wilson and pass on these two guys when we can trade down, get back our 2nd hopefully and STILL grab an elite defender.

Why would we take C.J. Spiller? That's a complete waste of a pick.

Personally, I want Brandon Graham in the first, Javier Arenas in the third, a receiver (Freddie Barnes of Bowling Green?) later on, and maybe Trindon Holliday in the 7th if we can't land Arenas.

If Dez Bryant or CJ Spiller does fall to the 16 pick we need to get on the phone and trade back. We could probably move back in the first round still get a good defender, and possibly pick up a 2nd and a later round pick. We need a ton of help on defense and the more picks we can get in the early rounds we need to get.

I understand your objections to Spiller but I've said elsewhere on the forum and still maintain that he would be anything but a wasted pick.

    1) Return duties/ avg starting field position + = check
    2) Minimizes wear and tear on CJ and serves as capable backup IF CJ hurt without losing too much = check
    3) Can work out of the slot and has reliable hands = check
    4) Nightmarish scenario with VY, CJ1, CJ2 on field same time for defense= check
5)Can get at least 15-20 touches a game with returns and be versatile player ala Harvin, Bush = Check

A wasted pick would be Trindon Holliday who would occupy roster spot and be utilized for returns exclusively. JMHO, feel free to debate.

I agree no more TE's, but we could still stand to upgrade our WR corps and maybe get a replacement in later rounds to GROOM for O-line.
I also agree D is a priority but with our coaching staff we don't need top shelf talent. Additionally, what about the following.
    2009
    Senderick Marks 2nd
    Ryan Mouton 3rd
    McRath 4th
    McCourty 6th
    2008
    Jason Jones 2nd
    William Hayes 4th
    Stanford Keglar 6th
    2007
    Michael Griffin 1st
    Antonio Johnson 5th
    Jacob Ford 6th

I think weve drafted enough D-line over the years; time for them to produce. That 2008 class in particular needs to step it up. If we were somehow able to snag Berry, Haden, or Mays at 16; I wouldn't complain because we could stand to upgrade our secondary. I don't see those guys happening though.
Our offense is one or two pieces away from being special for a long time. Lets load it up and enjoy the show.

While we've certainly made some picks towards bettering the defense, where are they on the tape? Every name listed comes and goes and doesn't maintain a constant force.

Senderick Marks 2nd - he's such a waste of a 2nd it makes me sick
Ryan Mouton 3rd - I'll give him some time, a 3rd is about what he is worth
McRath 4th - seems to be a great move thus far
McCourty 6th - similar to Mouton
Jason Jones 2nd - he gets me so angry he isn't a Pro Bowler in the making yet
William Hayes 4th - coming along fairly well
    Stanford Keglar 6th - please
Michael Griffin 1st - the only stand out name out of this list, and it's because he's a 1st rounder
    Antonio Johnson 5th - a joke, but in the 5th who isn't
Jacob Ford 6th - surprisingly better than a 6th pick would be expected to be

Point is: if we go defense with our 16th overall pick, it should equal another keystone player for us. And I'd like to get better depth behind Hope also.

Getting Bryant doesn't help us. We don't pass like the Texans and Colts do. No need for 4+ capable WR's, when there's a glaring weakness on one side of the ball.
