    1. Yes agree

    2. SenDerrick Marks is no DE.

    3. I agree we need a CB/DE very badly as I agreed with you up top. But we can't handcuff ourselves by saying ok DE round 1 CB round 3 LB round 3. BPA is the best way to draft. While that doesn't mean draft Spiller if he's available(I wouldn't mind actually) or Dez Bryant but BPA on defense mainly because we need a difference maker on that side of the ball if we want to beat squads like Indy/New England/New Orleans/San Diego. I don't care if that difference maker is at MLB or FS as long as we find one. We can't slot ourselves into picks and expect to be competitive now and in the future.

    Um...

Two things. Marks CAN NOT play DE! We'd be better off starting Ford and Hayes with Ball and probably Babin as reserves. Vickerson and Brown took snaps at DE too and Jason Jones played DE in college. All better options than Marks who's trying to learn to play DT.

Secondly, we had starters 'at least' at both DE and CB and had a terrible D. KVB and Harper were terrible last season. Just having starters is not acceptable if you wish to get into the playoffs and contend for the SB. We need a dominant pass rush and good CB's.

We have the same issues throughout our D...can Ford be a dominant pass rusher with a starting job? Can Mouton/McCourty be a solid-good starting CB? Can McRath be a good starting OLB? Can Hope return to form or was last year what he is now?

We could use a stud at any of these spots...but our D is built around a dominant pass rush just like the Colts. Notice the Colts had rookie CB's play and didn't get anihilated because they still had 2 dominant pro bowl pass rushers. If we had a better pass rush last year, Motuon and others would have looked a lot better. Even if we get a stud CB in rnd 1, we're gonna need to upgrade our pass rush. Some of that could be Ford starting and Jones returning healthy. But these two areas need immediate upgrading in terms of performance if this D is to return to the top 10 and for us to beat the good teams.

    At DE...Graham>Morgan>trade down>Hughes>JPP>Griffen
At CB...Wilson>Thomas(might play S)>trade down>Haden>Jackson>McCourty (depends on how they all run their 40's)
    At LB...McClain>Weatherspoon>Kindle>Washington
    At S...Thomas>trade down>Mays
    At DT...trade down>Odrick>Price

Graham is an OLB now. Not sure why, but NFL scouts like him in a 3-4 defense.

Haden is more than likely still going to be a top 10 pick. Everyone gets toooo caught up in 40 times. A minor strain could add in .10 seconds to a 40 time, or a bad start. Haden is still very fast, just watch tape. Haden is still the #1 CB prospect. Just wait until his pro day, you'll see.

Kyle Wilson who is your #1 CB is projected LATE 1st-Mid 2nd, and you want him at 16?

I think Hayden could free fall if his 40 time doesn't improve at his pro day. Not all teams run a cover 2 so man teams will not want a guy that slow. His pro day will make or break him as far as being a top 15 pick. I don't know if Wilson will leap over Hayden but it is possible if Hayden drops and Wilson moves up. What is a concern to me is Hayden didn't shine in the 3 cone or 20 yard shuttle either (he did have one of the better times in the 60 yard shuttle) and that could have lessened concerns about his quickness.

Graham is being looked at as an OLB in a 3-4 but he is also a nice fit as a weak side DE in a 4-3 like ours where his principle job is rushing the passer. I agree with Gut that we need a dominating pass rush. With the exception of Graham possibly and he isn't exactly a freak like Freeney I don't see a real dominating pass rush end. There are some good all around ends like Morgan and Dunlap with coaching could be the best of the bunch but I'm not sure any of them come to TN and instantly raise the defense to another level. If I were to pick a DE I might lean toward Graham because he seems to have the best pass rush coming out, the best technique and instincts.

    Um...

Usually, shoter DE's in college are always gonna be projected to being 3-4 OLB's. However, if you watched him on tape or at Senior Bowl practices, he's more than fine playing DE in a 4-3. The reality is he's a 4-3 DE right now since that is what he's played. A lot of scouts THINK he can be a good fit at 3-4 OLB too. Right now he's a better 4-3 DE.

Too caught up in a 40 time? A cb running a 4.6 can NOT play in a man to man scheme without being protected and if you need to protect him, he's not worthy of a 1st rnd pick. Why? Because a 4.4 or 4.3 speed WR will be YARDS past him on a fly route of 45-50 yards. For a lot of positions 40 time isn't necessary. For WR and CB it is. And you can't blame it on a poor start. He ran it twice...high 4.5's and 4.6. Not good. If he had a strain or something, he should have said so and NOT run. He may still go in the top 10, but the question is...SHOULD HE. The top CB last year who ran a 4.6 40 didn't exactly earn a starting job this year and he was at least a bigger CB. If Haden runs a 4.45 in his Pro Day, he'll go top 15. I think he's over rated. I've watched him since he's started for Florida since Florida is one of the college teams I follow. He's good, but I don't think he's a sure fire top 10 good. If he can't run faster and Wilson (who hasn't run the 40 yet) does, I think Wilson will go first. Wilson is projected lower because scouts don't think he's got good speed. We'll wait and see. And BTW, I could care less what a scout or a consensus of scouts say about a player. I'm a draftnik and follows these players fairly closely. Those same scouts didn't think DeSean Jackson was a first rnd pick....and that was EVERY team that passed on him.

If he runs a 4.45 or better, I think he's worthy of being picked at 16. He may not be the best guy to take at 16 and I'd prefer if the Titans trade down, grab a late 2nd and still get a guy like Graham or Wilson. More value.

    well...

Usually, 3 cone and 20 yd shuttle are more important than the 60. I didn't watch the combine drills yet but if he thinks he can do better, he'll do them again at his Pro Day. In my opinion, he needs to if he wants to go top 10. There are too many good players to take first if he starts sliding due to less than elite athleticism. He won't fall out of rnd 1..even if his 40 doesn't get faster, but he could go in the 20's.

DE's are hard to figure in college but we do have some good evidence. Morgan beat Bulaga who'll be a 1st rnd LT this year. Morgan had 12.5 sacks this year without much help on D. Graham also roasted Bulaga and also had a very nice year on a bad team without a lot of help. Morgan and Graham are both complete DE's too which is what makes them so attractive. Hughes might be the best passrusher of the 3 and was the best player on one of the best defenses. Hughes had an impressive 15 sacks a year ago and finished very strong again this year. His only knock is he's short like Graham (about 6'1) but only about 255lbs (about Ford's size) so a lot of scouts think he'll be perfect for a 3-4 OLB spot. Graham in comparison is about 265. Plenty big enough. Morgan has the right NFL size (about 6-4, 270) but he doesn't quite play as well as the other two. The thing about Hughes is, much like Robert Mathis, he doesn't stay blocked for long. I'd be happy with any of these 3 guys and Hughes can probably had later than the others because his size will scare some 4-3 teams off and as a 3-4 OLB, most scouts will put actual 3-4 OLB's like Kindle ahead of him.

I want no part of Dunlap and I'd only take Griffen or JPP in a trade down scenario since they won't help much in year 1 and may never develop.

I think we should pick Akwasi Owusu-Ansah. We need a cb. He has good size (6-1,205lbs) and has good speed sub-4.5 in the 40 yard dash. I know one of his knocks is that he came from a small school. But, we took a chance on another corner from a small school and he ended up being a pro bowler. He might not be around in the 3rd so we should work out a deal and get a second. He is going to be a great corner in the NFL.

He should be available in the 3rd and would be a reach in round 2. Wouldn't mind him in the 3rd but he is very raw and wouldn't contribute much besides KR/PR duties. To be honest I know he was a good returner in college and may be a great returner in the pros but his competitions tackling was pathetic.

Oh and things aren't as simple as working out a deal and getting a 2nd.

Another guy is CB Chris Cook - Virginia - 6'2 212 and ran a 4.46 40. Projected anywhere from 2nd-4th.
