If what you are saying is true, that 3rd round picks are worthless (depth, special teams only), then I truly think we should package everything 3rd round and later and trade up to add another 2nd round every year.

What's the point in staying in the 3rd round if every pick there is worthless?

Nice try. I didn't say they were worthless or that we'll never find starters in the third. I am saying you shouldn't expect third rounders to become starters. That doesn't mean every third rounder just fades away on the bench. Where's the precedence in teams drafting players in the third round, and consistently making long-term starters out of them?

Furthermore, quality depth and ST's are needed as well. If you don't understand that after this past season, then you probably weren't watching.

So, you are really happy with our 3rd round drafting? Even considering none of them remain on the team from more than 2 years ago?

Well, I won't hate on your happiness.

But I prefer we do better.

let's not consider the fact that there is quality inexpensive depth in free agency and there was also Chris Carr or Mark Jones or others that we could've signed as our return men, but instead let's use all future 3rd round picks on kick returners and special teams players

    duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur.

Just answer this. Where's the precedence? You hate the way we draft in the third. Which teams should we be drafting like? How many teams get more out of their third rounders than we do?

We did sign Mark Jones... last season. It worked out so well. You must have not been watching. And AGAIN trying to put words in my mouth. I never even implied that we should spend all draft picks on STer's.

Well pretty much any team that has a starter from the 3rd round in the past decade excluding last year's draft are doing better than us.

Yeah man, I don't watch. I only attended every game last year lol.

We had Mark Jones, he got hurt, we cut him and went with inexperienced rookies as kick returners and they sucked. But it's not like we couldn't have made space to keep him on the roster.

Again, you saw my post and ATTACK because you don't like me as a poster lol. Why should i show you any different level of respect?

Look, if you are really advocating that our 3rd round draft history is successful there is nothing left to discuss. I didn't think I could possibly value your opinion less, but I was wrong.

I only hope our front office will not settle for less than mediocrity the way you are.

You understood me wrong - all im trying to get to is that ONE player (at the safest position with the best coach teaching them) drafted in the third in the past year became a yearly starter.

Some on this board were questioning the potential in the third round and there is star potential (just as in any round); i'm not saying we need stars in the third but im thinking in ten years [...wow elementary school] you should have had more than an Kinny and a Pillar.

    Well, who?

Wow, you really think I "ATTACK" because I don't like you? Thought we buried the hatchet. :hmm:

No, it's just simply not reasonable. Want to know at least one team that's done worse than us with their third round picks in the last decade? The New England Patriots. Pure mediocrity, right?

Like I've been saying, there's really not much in the way of precedence here. It's similar to calling a team out for not drafting starters in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds. The drop off in talent is steep after round 2. Sure there are great players drafted in the 3rd. For most teams, it's still just hit or miss, and any player that contributes toward a winning effort given time isn't a miss.

You fit right in with our front office. They don't seem to care about getting good players in the 3rd round either.

Maybe we should have traded our 3rd to SD for Cromartie like the Jets did.
