I agree ........ DT all the way. They feed off each from time to time, with coverage sacks, but a DT will make a corner look better alot more of the time.

Nnamdi and Cortland ....... that would be nice.

You would trade 2 first round picks for a guy who would only be on the roster for 2 years? He is a FA after that and his contract has specific language that will make it impossible to franchise him. 2 first rounders for only 2 years of an elite player is a terrible deal.

He would restructure if we have a shot at a title. The guy has a lot of money already and has made it pretty clear that money isn't everything to him. I guarantee he would work with the team he goes to, just as long as he's out of Oakland. That nasty contract is giving him a ticket out of there and I highly doubt he'll restructure with them.

I read an article about him that said he drives a pretty old, average car that he's had since college or something (like a Honda Civic). Not the type of guy that's impossible to work with contract-wise. He wants to be on a contender and we can be that with an upgrade at CB.

The guy is pretty d@mn awesome but I'm not sure I'd give up 2 1sts for him. And I'm not so sure he'd be willing to re-work his deal. As humble of a guy he might be, I doubt he'd take a pay cut.

He wouldn't get a pay cut. He'd get an extension. He's mentioned wanting to team up with Revis to make the baddest CB duo in football, so it's probably not all about the money for him. Regardless, he is currently the highest paid corner in the league, and he's probably not willing to give out discounts. He would want well over $15 million a year. Probably $80 million - 5 years - $43 million guaranteed would be close to what he would want. Don't kid yourself though. He's worth it. The best corner in the league by far I would say. Players of his caliber are very rare.

If we keep paying CJ about 1 mil a year we can afford that hahaha. In all seriousness, I'm up for it even if it means that salary and giving up 2 first round picks. We're getting a guaranteed shutdown corner. Statistically there's only a small chance both of our 1st rounders will become studs, much less starters, in the NFL. A five year contract would have Asomugha in Nashville until he's about 33 (I think), so his production would start to probably decline around then. There's very few players I would trade 2 first rounders for, and Asomugha is one of them.

The only way I would bite is if we could get him for a 2010 first and he redoes his contract for a manageable 5 year deal (no more than 10-12M likely to be paid per year).

It would be nice, but we shouldn't toss away a draft or pay 16M/yr.

To pay this guy that much would only p!ss everybody on the team off who feels they're underpaid. Even our most important players (offensive lineman), don't make that kinda money. So to pay this guy that much wouldn't sit well with a lot of guys.

Somewhat? No way in hell any owner wants to pay $16M in bonuses in one month. That is insane!

Why try hard to get him when you can wait for march to go by and let Al Davis figure out how to pay that cash?

Yep because our pro bowl CB is playing on a $4M a year deal and he is going to be demanding a big extension if we bring a guy in here making 4X that. This is also an impediment to signing Dunta Robinson but i would still try.
