I just wish the weather still had an effect on whether or not I had to go to work...

That being said, no way we get more than an inch. Overblown, as usual. Boo.

Got this on the work email... let the freak-out begin!

Issued at: 1:26 PM CST 1/27/10, expires at: 4:00 AM CST 1/28/10

This is for multiple counties and varies by location. Please check your local weather to keep up-to-date as this system moves our way. Southern portion of state appears to be due rain; lower middle freezing rain; middle-north middle sleet; north and into Kentucky snow. Please see attached map from WSMV (NBC Affiliate in Nashville.

Winter Storm Watch in effect Friday and Friday night. The NWS in Nashville has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which is in effect from Friday morning through late friday night.

Timing: A strong low pressure system will move south of middle Tennessee late this week, and will spread wintry precipitation across the mid state beginning late Thursday night. The wintry precipitation will continue Friday and Friday night, with light snow lasting into Saturday.

Main impact: On Friday, look for significant accumulations of snow across northern middle Tennessee, and rain, snow, and ice across southern middle Tennessee. Friday night, precipitation will switch to all snow.

Other impacts: Roads and bridges will become slippery and dangerous for driving. Gusty winds may cause drifting snow, and wind chills Friday night will drop into the teens and single digits.

    Precautionary/preparedness actions:
A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Why do people even watch the weather in TN?

Have they EVER been right about snow? If they say it'll snow 8 inches- it'll rain. If they say there's no chance of precipitation, it'll snow 3 inches. I think it's impossible to lose your job as a weatherman due to inaccuracy or else they'd have job fairs for the spot.

When you get snowed in, you must make the best out of the situation.
