That's not as much based on bowl results or even play outside the conference. It's purely based on my own observations.

In the east, there was a huge drop-off after Florida, IMO. Usually, there's a Georgia or Tennessee who has four or less losses. There was a lot of 7-6 records this season.

In the west, the Rebels went into the season ranked high and they disappointed. LSU didn't have the offense. Arkansas didn't have the defense. Auburn was a head-scratcher much of the season.

By usual SEC stanards, I think there was a significant drop-off after Bama and Florida.

I definitely agree that the SEC wasn't its normal powerhouse self this year.

But i also think it still was the best conference of the year.

because having 3 guys saying the same thing in 3 seperate threads is bringing something new to the table right? If you're gonna post the same bs everywhere, I might as well too.

lol @ RT disputing that this was an off year for the SEC. If it wasn't- then they're DEFINITELY overrated...beyond belief.

And you guys REALLY overplay the bowl game thing, huh?

Beating average 8 win teams in the Interstate Battery Night of the Champions Bowl Game doesn't prove anything.

Mississippi is a bad team. No matter what they're "bowl game" tells you.
    Tennessee was a bad team.
And so was pretty much every other team you tried to mention.

TJ - who had a tougher schedule? Virginia Tech, easily. Miami, easily... probably a lot more. Even USC had a harder schedule than Florida... Oregon... FSU... Minnesota...etc.

Here are few of the teams on that schedule you think were tough:

Marshall - doubt they could beat Troy
Duke - the Vandy of the ACC
East Carolina - another Conference USA team. Lost to Arkansas.
Maryland - beat by MTSU (2-10)
    NC State - sad (5-7)
    Virginia - worse (3-9)

I think this is the perfect place to ask this, what do you guys think of Tommy Tuberville?

I'm not too familiar with the SEC so I wondered what y'all think of him.

I liked him and think he got an unfair shake at Auburn. I hope he has success at Tech.
