For you big "momentum" apologists-... did a coin toss break switch momentum?

really trying to figure this out...

no offense Alex, Hoffa, Gloat... but you and a great many sound like Colts fans making a fuss about a win not being pretty enough... I mean, it's an ugly win, sure, but we had two starting LB's out at that point, Vanden Bosch was dinged and Harper has shown vulnerability, plus, it seems he is easier to toast than a marshmallow... that being said, if we take the T.O., we force them to throw on us. Safety possibility or not, they would have to throw. They would never run only to be t.o.'ed... What happens when it's 1st and ten from the Miami 42 yard line with :40 seconds after we dare them? They run up and spike maybe? Save their lone time out? They had momentum. When it was 24-16 didn't that score come up a little TOO fast? Never mind the fact they converted 2. I'm not saying I would have done the same thing, I'm just saying that we won the game. We took a risk and won. Isn't that the main complaint? Not enough risk taking?

Well, apparently it did - I wouldn't be so eager to argue a point that has already been proven wrong on the field.

It's not that hard to figure out that a couple minute break to give your defense a chance to get their breath, regroup and come back on the field refocused is at least a viable option.

Here were the previous 2 Miami drives:
    12 plays 80 yards Touchdown
    10 plays 90 yards Touchdown

Again, I would have called the timeout and gone for the win. But that would have been inviting Miami to take a shot into a secondary that gave up almost 350 yards.

I have a problem with some decisions that allowed the game to get to that point. Not with the decision to cut your losses and try to win it in OT.

A win isn't enough when it's a pointless win. And pointless due to the losses we've somehow apparently forgotten about due to 6 games vs weak opponents.

It's not this game we're complaining about. It's this game reminding us of how Fisher will never change, and has been holding the team hostage for years with the same outdated, player loyal, non-adjusting, obviously flawed system.

If you're happy about fighting for a wild-card spot every year or barely squeezing in to the playoffs only to be sent home in the first game unless 1 or 2 players do something to save it despite the coaching- great.

But most of us aren't happy with sitting in the same spot the Lions are at the end of the season every year.

So a timeout wouldn't have changed momentum... but going in to overtime with a team that our guys knew they could have beaten did. Right? Our coach basically saying "I don't trust my defense to stop a team on the 2 yard line on 2nd down" changed the momentum for us, right?

(oh, and forget about the fluke play that was responsible for one of those 2 drives, i guess?)

Gloat, your post makes no sense. Tennessee had the #1 seed last year, CJ was victimized by being intentionally hurt by Ravens players and Alge and LenDale had crucial red zone fumbles. The Lions haven't sniffed the playoffs since the narrowly missed 10,12 years ago...
