Will the media turn on Peyton Manning the way they have turned on Tiger?

So answer me this: Why did Ben Roethlisberger's situation that was JUST LIKE Kobe Bryant's go completely unnoticed?

    Nah. Can't be a white/black thing!

Kobe STILL catches heat for it. Everyone has already forgotten or hasn't even heard of the Ben case.

    Well...

The question is why? Simple. He hit rock bottom. A-rod has always played with the thought of what people will think of him. Well, when you go on national TV and admit you lied and cheated (took steroids)...were found with strippers or whatever and have an affair in public...he hit rock bottom. Hard to think people could think worse of him. With no more fear and a new attitude supplied by his gf (buddism - focus on the moment)...he came back from injury much faster than anticipated and had an extremely productive year...including in the playoffs.

There was a time when Britney was THE singer/dancer/(stripper) that everyone was in love with and Christina Aguilera was a distant 2nd. Britney became a joke and while she was still one of the most searched celebs, it killed her career. Meanwhile, Aguilera dumped a lot of her trashiness and let her gorgeous voice sell the records...and she became huge. For someone with no name recognition, even somewhat bad publicity is a good thing. For someone who's a household name, bad publicity keeps the attention but can kill your career. When/IF Britney does another album...will anyone care? Put Britney next to Taylor Swift and tell me who the fans will go to?

There is always someone new in the music business...especially if you're not a great singer, songwriter/ect. If you're not on top or making your way up...you're getting pulled under in the undertow and soon after your career gets rolled.

If the media had any INKLING this was going on it would have blown up as soon as they found out! It's safe to say that Elin didn't know or didn't know the extent of his infidelity/personality until that night. And while it's easier to catch football players or baseball players...it's harder to catch golfers though it IS safe to say that at least several golfers knew of his various infidelities. Golfers tend to travel on private Gulf Streams owned or leased by other players. Few people on board and probably none of the women are wives...if you get my drift. NFL teams are not gonna let some dude's mistress catch a ride back with the team whereas golfers are the one's running/flying/owning the planes they travel on. The media also aren't catching a ride either.

    BIG DIFFERENCE!

Gut, I want to introduce you to something called TL;DR

I read your entire post, but I wish you could include a TL;DR's after your posts. You make fair points.

    Well...

As far as I know Big Ben is NOT married and since they can't find enough evidence that a crime took place, there isn't an incident. If he had consentual alone time with the woman, so what. He's single. It also appears from what she was asking for that she was just trying to get some money out of him even though he didn't do anything wrong.

As for Kobe, he WAS married. So him cheating and perhaps alledgely raping a girl is a MUCH bigger story. While they didn't prove that the encounter was rape, it appears the encounter DID happen. Didn't he 'settle' the case with the girl and give his wife multimillion dollar jewelry just after all this broke? Sound familiar? Giving your wife jewelry worth millions is tantamount to admitting you did something wrong to the public (which it appears he did). Hence the reason he still catches heat for it.

There have been many cases similar to Big Ben's involving black athletes and they similarly didn't have any legs because the athlete didn't do anything wrong.

The other thing is, some guys are better at handling it with the media than others. David Letterman and Rick Pitino put the story out themselves and told the truth (as far as we know). Each are different cases as Letterman wasn't married at the time but still inappropriate (someone who worked for him) while Pitino WAS married. But Pitino coming out and saying what happened and he was sorry allowed him to control the story. If the media finds out first and jumps to conclusions and you're stuck in denial mode, you look guilty and people wonder how much other stuff you're lying about. See the difference?

Last point, if you smack around a celeb as big as Rihanna, public opinion is gonna smack you down. Color doesn't matter. As for Houston and her husband, I think people resent him for basically removing her from the public when she was at the top...instead she got addicted to coke and threw away the best thing she had...her voice. She'll never make it all the way back because she can't sing at that level anymore and there are plenty of others who are better.

Kobe's case....the young lady reported it immediately, wanted to immediately press charges and there was evidence of sexual contact. Both of her "openings" had evidence of force of rough sex. Kobe admitted that he had sex with her, he just said that it was consensual. I still think he raped the girl, but unfortunately, unless the guy is creepy, wearing a ski mask and jumps you in the dark, the burden of proof is on the woman. My friends and I used to joke that if we were raped by a famous athlete, we'd just slink away because all of our personal business would be in the streets before we even got to trial.

On the other hand, Ben's accuser waited more than a year and she didn't want to prosecute him, she wanted money. She actually attempted to sue him in civil court for rape. Even if he did rape her, she made herself look sheisty by not immediately going to the police.

The Tiger situation would be different than Peyton. Tiger has worldwide appeal and had embraced the good guy and role-model image. My wife and I don't even like golf but we both always admired and liked Tiger. I like football and don't particularly care one way or the other for Peyton.

I don't even like reading the news/stories about Tiger because he was someone I respected, admired and thought good things about. Now all those things are not just wrong, but completely trampled. So I just stopped reading about it and not wanting to know.

For me, it'd be like if Barry Sanders or Joe Montana did something like this. Since those are two other people I always really respected and admired.

    Just disappointing...

A short paragraph addressing each of your points shouldn't be TLDR...but I'll see if I can remember to add a little summary at the bottom for ya.
