I feel Fish made a mistake letting Chris Carr Go.
Field position 35 -40 with Chris.
    Field position 20 - 25 without Chris
Hope Mouton & Ringer pick it up & SOON!!!!!!!

    GO TITANS!!!

Chris Carr wanted a shot at starting CB. Fish/Schwartz/Cecil obviously thought he wasn't ready to start at CB. Baltimore offered them a shot at CB and more money.
I didn't see Fisher overpaying him then and I don't now.

Is it really overpaying if he does a good job? With our kind of team, good field position wins games, plain and simple.

Well if it were any other case with a player concerning only one position, then I would be inclined to agree with you. But Carr's case also involved him wanting to start at CB. What do you do when you have a player like that, who can't play CB as well as your starting CB, yet wants to be the starter and will go to a team that will let him be a starting CB?
Do you think his return game would make up for the deficit of CB play he would create?

he's not a starter in Baltimore, I've argued this waaaay too many times for my liking. I'll say it one more time, then be mum forevermore, but if we would have paid him what he deserved as a KR, he would have taken it happily.
I really don't want to get this started again, we've had 3-4 threads devoted to this already, but let's just agree we should've kept him as a KR, and that he sucks as a CB.

Let's let sleeping dogs lie, and pointless @ss arguments.

i know man, we finally got a solid return man, and let him go in one season. They are kicking themselves now, I assure you.
STUPID move by them, and we all saw it coming.

Sucks that he's gone... but as I recall everyone wanted Carr gone after the first few games last year. It took him a while to get in the groove, and when he did he was very good. We saw good things from Ringer in preseason - I think he'll turn out fine. We'll see about Mouton - punts are tougher to handle.

Anyway, I don't know how much more money it would have taken to keep Carr. He got $2.5M a year, so it would have taken probably $3-4M to keep him just as a KR, and it would have meant some tougher decisions about which linemen to keep active each week. In retrospect Carr or even Mark Jones would have been better. I believe kick returns probably cost us the Steelers game. 1-1 would have been worth the cost, but I would have done the same thing as GM.

Ringer had one decent return in preseason against Dallas. You can't coach speed and Ringer doesn't have any. The entire KR team is coached to form wedges at a certain time so that the KR can explode through the hole. Ringer is too slow and by the time he gets up there the coverage unit has uncovered from their initial blocks. Kinda like how Lendale was slow getting to the line of scrimmage last year.

Isn't it illegal to form wedges now?
