You are probably right, 250k was just a ballpark figure. The more, the merrier!

Id much rather get beat by 60 and make half a million for WKU sports then play 12 1-AA teams all year and not even get close to making 500k in ticket sales the entire season.

Have you been to the new LT Smith Stadium? I have driven by it, but haven't been to a game. I may come on down and see the South Florida game.

Yeah I just graduated in May, so I was able to go to a couple of games last year. I didn't get to sit on the new side though...I'll be sitting there for a game coming up in October.

People will consent to all kinds of terrible things for money. That doesn't mean that it's good that they are happening.

Whine all you want about the big schools vs. the little schools, but they need the payday. If a school like WKU didn't go for the paydays, then they would have to drop football altogether. Is it fair? Maybe not. But life ain't fair.

my point is the talent will even out. Every drop in scholorships will tend to even out the talent even more.

Want schools like UT, Alabama, Big12 whatever to stop with the minor violations - take a scholorship away with each violation.

I would like too see scholorships dropped to 80 immediatly and eventually dropped to 60. At that point there would be no reason too even have divisions in NCAA football as the talent would be spread out pretty evenly. Would be like BB in that every school would have a fair shot at the championship

your right, the bcs is geared towards bringing money to the big conferences. every year there is a what if... how good of a football game would florida vs utah... or usc vs whoever.

sucks because UT can recruit nationwide and WKU and schools like that usually only get local talent. Kentucky isnt notorious for football players like states like Texas and Pennsylvania are.

Heck, I'm fine with there being big school football programs and small school football programs. But big schools shouldn't waste the sport by playing tiny schools that have no chance 3-4 times per year.

It's good for the small schools to get the payoff, but it's bad for the sport as a whole.

Would you rather the big schools stop playing small schools and then the small school teams fold?

I don't think that is the only choice, but given it, then probably yes. Those games are an embarassment. You don't ask a pee-wee team to play half of their games against junior high players, it's not fair or entertaining.

Small football programs have existed for quite a while, and still manage to bring in money for their school. Those payments are their way of taking advantage of a flawed system, not their only means of survival.
