It'd be great if Vince did come out of all this as a good, solid quarterback- giving us the excitement we expected after his rookie season.
But it's hard for most of us to believe it will happen. Realistically, I think he's done- and he has a better chance to catch on somewhere else. As long as it isn't Philly. The boo Santa Clause, so...

The Colts game when he came in really put things in to perspective for me. Playing against 3rd stringers he still did bad.

So far Vince seems to be doing really well in camp. This is a make or break year, and with everything that happened with Mac maybe he can channel his emotion into his game.

I know the hate is coming...

  3. Let's revisit all the "VY is still worth keeping" stuff until we see how he looks in the exhibition games at least...

Oh most definitely. That is inevitable....

In regards to VY, I just think it would be illogical to just give up on him. I mean, I know he's had some pretty bad games but it hasn't been all bad, regardless of what the people with the mob mentality will try to FORCE you to believe.

We'll be seeing him a whole lot this Sunday and while I know he won't light it up right off the bat in the first pre-season game, I think we'll be seeing a much improved overall game from him. However, I think he does have to come right out of the gate firing. If he goes out there and just looks cautious/scared then I think we'll have a little something to worry about.

Personally, I'll be waiting until the pre-season is done to give my evaluation of his situation with no homer-glasses. I do think though, that I will not be disappointed.

Mob mentality FORCE you to believe? lol

Just watch the games. Some have been just horrific. 5 yard passes at the feet, or just in the middle of nowhere that end up intercepted by linemen, etc. It's been pretty rough.

Forget that he's a titan/longhorn/vince and watch him. You'd laugh. But again- I think we all hope something triggers and he at least lets his athleticism enable him to be a solid player.

I look at the math, and it doesn't work out for Vince here.

As long as Collins does not get hurt for at least a 4 game period, nothing changes in TN. We have CJ and that means Collins will be successful in 2010 and 2011. We're gonna be somewhere between 9-13 wins likely. The Vince contract balloons. Game over.

I won't take any stock in a Vince Pre-season or a regular season run that does not go more than 4 games. He's not an elite to begin with, and he'll be rusty until game 4 or 5. He's still in the 1 year injury zone. And will he get a stretch like that of 4 or 5 games to regain his momentum from the end of 08? No. Not likely. So there is nothing here to help him scoot into a starter role.

Vince' only hope is that Fisher or the 2011 team cap believes he is the guy. Again. Not likely with Collins being here.

I add to that the fact that the one team that would start him, and that would trade for him, Houston, will be in the market for a qb in 2011, and the gears really start clicking for a trade.

I look at the Math. And it's not adding up in his favor to be here.

I don't think anyone hopes he sucks. He has provided ocular proof that he does suck. I think every Titan fan wants him to improve. If Vince Young becomes the real deal, it would be better than signing two Haynesworths. That's how important it would be. It would simply be the best thing for this team. There are those of us, however, who are not going to tout him as the next best QB in the NFL (or even the next Kerry Collins, for that matter) when he hasn't shown that he is capable of effectively playing QB at this level. Vince has proved to be a liability on the field. If that's the level he is stuck on, he's simply a detriment to the team, and yes, we are very interested in the well being of the team. We refuse to put ONE player above the team. Our hearts and minds are in the right places.

This is what really concerns me. The thought has crossed my mind that Vince might really blow it up in meaningless preseason games(I don't think he's had a particularly bad preseason yet), and "earn" his role as starter back. Right now, Kerry Collins is the starter. If you take that job away from him, you better be damn sure the guy you give it to is going perform above expectations. There's no doubt in my mind that Vince can dominate second and third string defenses, as well as the vanilla preseason play-calling. If he really does deserve to be the starter again, sure, but what may happen when the pressure is on could be unpredictable, much like the opener last season.

Do u really think Jeff would make a switch like that before the reg. season started? If Vince does well in preseason and Kerry sucks, then Fisher will wait to see how they both play in a real game before making a change.

I don't think Fish would pull the trigger in the pre-season no matter how awful Collins might look. I agree that it would take 2-3 reg season games. I mean look at 06. Collins was horrid and still took 3 games to get him out of there and a team meeting.

If we assume Vince has made only modest improvement at best. Then if we want to look at Vince in the preseason games and blowing it out, you gotta think turf and national game traditionally as variables for success. He seems to loosen up in these environments. So let's let look at the schedule. All Grass. Except for the biggest game of the pre-season vs. Dallas. He would likely get 2-3 qtrs in this game on turf. But it will be the second half. So there will be no big boost to his image here no matter how well he plays in my opinion. If he was allowed to start that game, different story altogether, but don't see it. So when I look at the environments that would elevate his status on the team and in the media ( yes, Fisher is influenced by peer pressure), it doesn't look optimistic to me. He;s gonna be rusty and the elements for success are not there this pre-season.

Buffalo, Grass, national TV, lots of playing time for VY
Tampa, Grass, Home, lot of PT
@Dallas, Turf, national TV, 50% PT
    @Cleveland, Grass, limited PT
Green Bay, Grass, Home, lots of PT
