It's how the media business works. The public is fascinated by the Vince Young saga so don't expect writers to ignore a fertile story.

It's plain enough that Vince being visible irritates some people who post so they jump on everything. But, really, has he given "interview after interview" or has he given one interview cut into segments and played at separate times? Did he say he quit during the game? No, he said the booing made him want to quit because it hurt so much. Not the same thing at all. And, yes, Kuharsky, and several Tennessean writers over-cover and create copy about Vince even when nothing new has happened; I guess they're thrilled this week because they have something new to draw from.

As to Vince's interveiw - I'm glad he did it, I've though he should for a long time because he needed to clear the air, explain his viewpoint and do the PR version of "taking questions until there are no more questions" on a topic that is causing him reputational harm. That's what this interview is, warts and all. It's an act of maturity and professionalism that he's decided to step up this way and deal with a lot of uncomfortable events. Personally, I found his demeanor compelling and his candor to be admirable. And, to criticize his timing is absurd, IMHO, the off-season is the time to do it - everyone would have had a coronary if he'd done this interview last September, no doubt accusing him of "distracting" the team during its great run to focus on himself. I read that Steven Smith commented on Vince's willingness to bite his tongue during the season when he badly wanted to defend himself as being very selfless - quite the opposite of how some have portrayed it.

And I want to address the language issue, which is commonly used on the internet and in the press as "evidence" of a lack of intelligence. We Southerners, of all people, should see that for the red herring it is. Vince speaks in the dialect some call ebonics. It's the dialect he was raised with and taught to speak. Obviously, its not general English. It does not follow general English grammatical conventions. Nevertheless, he uses pronouns and double-negatives in a fashion consistant with the dialect, which simply means his speech patterns are consistant with the "language" that is native to him. The fact that his four years in college didn't wipe out 18 years of speaking another way should not be surprising. Compared with his teen years, he has moved toward general English and will likely continue to move in that direction as he spends more time with people who speak that way. The mockery over this issue is way off base. Listen to yourself the next few days and take note of how much of your own spoken language is something other than general English. You'll be enlightened. :)

but he wont get that. at texas he was a "god" and he feels that it is and it will be the same where ever he decides to play.

There is no "I" in team vince.
and vince replies...but there is a "me" and i am the greatest of all time:rolleyes:

keep telling my self what??? that he thinks he is the greatest?? he does. that is proof by the "if them not ready to play me someone else is" comment. he rode the bench last year and he thinks he is ready to be a starter in this league. that is entitlement if i have ever heard it.

but i do take it personal. when my hard earned money goes into their bank accounts. i do take it personal. i buy jerseys, hats, shirts, golfballs, tickets. they see that money, as well as millions others cash. it is personal!

If you don't like how the team spends its money then go follow another team. Until he actually says all of the things that you assume, I will reserve judgement about his attitude.

are you blind?? or just a vy homer to the end? he has said this stuff. everyone agrees that his attitude is crap. he has not proven anything in this league with this team. he hasnt proven anything. so why the comment, if them guys not ready for me to play...someone else is? what is that? a comment made up and said by someone wearing a VY costume???? he said that he feels that he should be the starter. when he cant do anything but throw INTS.

i am fine with how the team spends it money...i was just trying to explain to a homer that it is personal...obviously you are to blind with vy love that you cant see that

    None of that is true.

    Not true.

    Not true.

    Duh!

    Not a sentence.

More or less what they were saying on the radio. Basically they dogged him for referring to so many things from a personal perspective rather than the team perspective.

They also dogged him on the "No one could handle the pressure I was under" comment. I have to agree, I don't see that Vince was under more pressure than any other new starting QB in the league.
