That's the secret/problem with the Wildcat, it's all in how you use it. Use it a little, and it can be effective. Use it most of the time, and people will stop it.

Baltimore and Chicago were both able to effectively shut down our running game. True, Chicago overdid it, and Collins took advantage of it.

I don't really have a strong opinion on the Wildcat. I'd be interested in seeing it, but I know that we won't. I think it's strange that some people devote so much time to something that won't happen. Fisher won't run the wildcat for more than two plays this season, max.

I don't know... I just don't see KC being very effective in the Wildcat.

There is an NFL network video on the Titans homepage this morning with an interview of Coach Fischer.....WATCH IT!!! IMO he clearly states...VINCE WILL BE RUNNING THE WILDCAT IN TN....and I quote "You do not want to open against us" clearly calling out the Steelers to watch out cause we are coming out with some tricks up our sleeves!

Careful dude....That's really not what he said. He didn't clearly say anything. He said "maybe", then said "there's a pretty good chance".

Fisher may be playing poker with Tomlin already. Psych! :ha:

Personally, I don't understand why there's so much sentiment against the WC philosophy.

It's not like anyone would make it the foundation of their scheme or use it 30 times per game; it's just another tool at the team's disposal....one more twist that opposing defenses would have to prepare for.

Perhaps I'm aging myself here, but I recall a time when many regarded the shotgun formation as something of a gimmick, and gave legitimate reasons why it wouldn't work in the NFL. "It elminates the power running game....it tips the offense's hand, and lets the the defense know a pass is coming....etc." All of which is true....and yet the shotgun is still a very viable part of the game today. Why?

Because at the end of the day, it all comes down to execution, and which team executes better.

Critics point to the Ravens/Dolphins game as proof that the WC doesn't work. But the fact is, the Ravens have one hell of a good defense, no matter who they're facing. Sure, they contained the Dolphins' WC....but they were also exceptionally good against more traditional offenses as well, and shut down some of the most prolific offenses in the league. Never has anyone suggested that traditional pass and run concepts no longer work in the NFL....but for some reason, one or two bad games by a WC, and suddenly the critics are crowing that the WC won't work.

Like I said, it's just like anything else. If you have the talent and the personnel to execute it, then there's a good chance you'll be successful. If your offense can't execute it, I'm willing to bet they're struggling just as badly with more traditional concepts. In that case, it's probably not so much a bad scheme.....it's just a bad team.
