I think that Michael Vick should never be allowed to participate in the NFL ever again. And I'm not saying that about the dogs, although that is a horrible thing. I think that if any player in the NFL is convicted of a felony charges they should be barred from the league.

I am tired of seeing pro athletes (celebrities in general for that matter) make millions of dollars only to blow it by being to stupid or irresponsible to stay out of trouble. No second chances and no more "Pacman"s or "Vick"s. If they want to be idiots and screw up a great opportunity then that is their decision but in the real world being an idiot has consequences and it that they, their peers, and all the kids that look up to them learn that.

Is it ethical,no.Is it understandable definitely and it isn't racism.

It stems from terrorism being tough to stop.If Al Quieda threats originated from England I'd have no problem with being racially profiled because of it. I have nothing to hide and I'm against terrorism, what's the problem?

Shock value? That was a healthy reminder IMO of who Vick is.

He was charged with what prosecutors were able to make stick after Vick lied and schemed his way to lesser charges by blowing a fortune on accountants and lawyers in a desperate attempt to avoid jail.

He was named and shamed as a big time player in both organised dog fighting and it's bed mate illicit gambling.

I do think he should have the opportunity to play again, but i think we should have been talking about this a few years from now. Someone above mentioned that he was charged with running an interstate dogfighting ring, and was convicted and did his time. Unfortunataly being charged with something is not the same as being charged for everything. Yes he ran this interstate ring and got busted, but what he did is so much more than that. This is organized criminal activity. He should have been charged with so much more and spent longer time in jail. Financing the dogfighting ring, tax evasion, conspiracy, and the list goes on. These dog fights were not the only illegal thing going on, there were drugs, prostitution. My opinion is he should have been in jail for another 3-4 years and then we can talk about his reinstatment, after his 1 year suspention was served as well.

Egypt isn't the point. The point he was trying to make is that America has a different world view than much of the world on the treatment of dogs in particular, which to a certain extent, I agree with. Groups like PETA care most about furry animals with cute faces. They're not too big on saving roaches. Yeah, that's an extreme example, but there is a bias that is even rooted in the justice system in much of America itself. In many states, Tennessee included, it is a felony to fight dogs, and only a misdemeanor to fight roosters. If Vick were fighting (or owned the property where fighting occurred) ugly feathered creatures with talons, people wouldn't make such a big deal about it.

A big part of the perspective most Americans cling to concerning treatment of dogs, cats, and anything else with a cute face is that most Americans identify their pets as children. They care for and nurture animals, giving them better treatment than they themselves get, and therefore feel like they are parents. I've seen people cry watching Marley and Me. Let's move on...

As an American, I say we are right on this and other countries that have no problem with dog fighting are wrong.

I look at :grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr: fighting as less than dog fighting (although I'm not sure felony to misdemeanor less). I think the main reason why is that roosters aren't a domesticated animal. Maybe domesticated isn't the right term but they aren't "pets" in my eyes.

Vick served his time and should be reinstated immediately. But even a small screw up and he should get a major suspension. And if he acts like a fool in a meeting with Goodell, then I'd have no problem with Goodell suspending him.

I think it's important to remind everyone that Alex is the same guy that says he'd kill a human if someone hurt his dog.

Just thought that may be important.

It's degrading, unethical and of course it is racist.

If Al-Qaeda were a bunch of Western white folk committing terrorism, people wouldn't be fearing every white person they see on a plane thinking they are a terrorist, yet if anyone sees a Muslim/Middle Eastern male on a plane, the thought that immediately comes to mind is Terrorist.

Umm...I betcha they would. And I wouldn't be offended in the least if I got profiled because I'm white and western. I would be thankful that the authorities were focused on people who might actually be involved in terrorism instead of worrying about what the ACLU was going to throw at them.

If the Skinheads decided to blow up a bunch of buildings and declare war on Australia, how smart would it be to check the black guy with a fro instead of the pasty white guy with a slick head? I'd place more value on life than I would on hurt feelings.
