What is stupid is that slaton will get 99 speed as well. Also if you look at the new ranking slaton and forte are above 90 and johnson is below 90.

Tons of backs have as good of a rookie campaign or better, and then go on to do nothing. I'm not saying that is what's going to happen with CJ, but he isn't God, and this is worth discussing in my opinion.

I am thinking about opening a "what if" thread... I am wondering what everyone would do if Kerry Collins was knocked out of the week 1 Pittsburgh game and Vince Young led us to 10-0. What if that happened? What would you do?

Take my pig for a quick fly around the park, maybe toss a couple snowballs with Lucifer. Normal Tuesday for me.

And don't take this as me hating on Vince Young thing. Kerry's not gonna get us to 10-0 either. He might not get us to 1-0. Our opening schedule is just way too hard.

Ringer blowing CJ out of the water is a ridiculous hypothetical. The odds of a 5th round pick moving up 5 spots on OUR depth chart in his first mini-camp to reach pro-bowl numbers against the teams we play in the AFC is flat out preposterous. Yeah, I know there is some slim, astronomical chance out there, but let's be real, it ain't happening.

Lets even grant that Ringer somehow moves up 4 spots on the depth chart (henry, ganther, little, white) and is splitting regular reps with CJ on the field. Will he have the same effect on defenses in the passing game? Doubtful. Is he a homerun hitter? No. He's faster than his pro-day suggests (i think he ran like a 4.6 and ran a 4.4 later? Or was that Mouton?) but that's not break-away speed in the NFL.

I hoped Ringer would emerge as a Marion Barber type back, but that's just not his running style. It's a little bit more like Lendale's, except he hits the hole infinitely faster. He's a much slicker back that I was expecting. Having said that, I really don't think he passes Lendale in the depth chart, he just has way too much experience, and Little and Ganther are no guarantee either.

Let's see I'm a big Ringer fan but no he won't blow out CJ. CJ is already the starter. You know how hard it is to knock off a starter in the NFL? It's pretty hard, hell, the Chiefs took Croyle out when he got injured and was out for the rest of the season. Remember Lamont Thompson? The worst starter on the team kept his seat till Griffin came around a few years later. It just won't happen. CJ will get his 20+ carries along with White getting his 10+. Just not enough room for a 3rd string RB to get enough carries. Last year we all became fans of Ealy but not even him could crack the starting lineup at our worst position.

Ah, Lamont Thompson. God help him, but on 3rd & 62, that man would sell out on the run better than any safety in the league...

Not sure that three RBs wouldn't work. Giants pulled it off pretty well, and you KNOW Fish would love to have three RBs PLUS Sarge in rotation.

Yeah the 3 RB rotation would work but the Giants had it perfect though. With us our #1 RB is a speed guy. Then we have a goal line back and another RB kind of in between. Johnson could take a full load and so could Ringer(well in college). With the Giants I only see Jacobs. The other 2 are compliments. We shouldn't be compared to the Giants we should be compared with the Panthers. We also wouldn't go with a 3 back rotation right off. That'll take some time to see if we can give Ringer that much time on the field.

I'm expecting that CJ will get most of the carries and LW will get less. So the Titans can evaluate if they need LW in the future. This is where Ringer comes in. If they don't need LW then Ringer becomes that #2 RB the next year but won't have near the role of LW because the Titans know CJ can handle the 25+ carry games. If he can't the next year then we have Ringer who is a more athletic LW to help like LW did.
