Does anyone know anything about this type of TV? Its supposed to be the future of TV, and supposedly twice as clear as the best LCD model out there today.

    Is anyone manufacturing this yet?

Mitsubishi actually has halted production for a while but are now back at it. Initial models are going to be in the $7000 range
    • and they are delayed in getting the 73 inch model out.

Supposedly are expected to delivery a very wide color response and consume a lot less energy.

Will be interested to see how quickly this technology is embraced given the high price point it will come in at.

I believe one of the major selling points of "laser" televisions is a more 3D-like picture than LCD, plasma, or DLP.

name ONE thing that LCD has on plasma ?

    contrast ratios = no
black levels = not even close
    color gamut = no
    viewing angles = nope
120hz ? = thats an LCD gimmick. recent plasmas are 480hz
THX certification ? = dont know of a single LCD that got the certification

    Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P50G10
    - for $1700, there's NOTHING in the LCD world that even comes close
about the only thing LCD has on plasma is weight and power consumption

few displays can stand up to Panasonic or Pioneer plasma
about the only thing that compares to a Pioneer is a Panasonic (vice-versa)

    1440p
they should have skipped 1080 altogether

    720p x 2 = 1440

I am waiting for a TV I bought in 1989 to kick the bucket so I can get a plasma.

completely agree. I've got a 42" Panny plasma EDTV that I prefer to my 37" Samsung LCD HDTV. Before anyone says, "yeah, but the Panny's bigger," remember it's an EDTV - that's 480p max. Colors are more real, blacks are blacker, whites are whiter, no motion blur, more depth to the picture. When I get the funds, I'm getting a 50 inch Panny 1080p. Probably the 850 series.
