I was clinically diagnosed with Insomnia while in college. Meds were prescribed. Never picked up any of the pills though. Too terrified I wouldn't wake up in the morning. Ended up making things worse.

Should I have taken the pills? Prob, but I wouldn't change it if I had a mulligan.

The USA is most likely over medicated in comparison to other countries. No big shock there! There are, however, many who benefit from the use of those meds. I, for one, don't care if half the people around me are spending thousands of dollars on pills to cure anything from acne to insanity. If it keeps their lives running the way they want it to BULLEY FOR THEM!

So... Pitbull, how are you doing now? Did any of our arguing help you sleep?

Remember when everyone was giving their kids Ritalin? Now they've toned it down, but wow.
Seeing all those kids come in to the office looking like zombies and parents being cool with it was upsetting to me. Parents were basically taught 'If your 8 year old boy does things like...not pay attention well, show signs of energy, playfulness, etc- you know, normal kid things- you should drug them'.

Pretty sad. Kids can't even be kids anymore without their parents making them druggies before they even have the chance to choose for themselves.

If there were a "Low Five" button, I would have pressed it for this post. But, alas, there is no such button (Jeff, consider a "Low Five" button for posts you kind-of really agree with). So, you get nothing for your effort.

However, let's try to remember what this thread is really about - Pitbull's insomnia. Constant bickering over whether or not this or that is a real disease/affliction is not helping our Titan brother.

I don't really see anything wrong with what he said. The world is becoming one drugged up place wrapped in bubble wrap. There are meds for everything and kids can't be kids without being 'ill'. They are always outside playing, they have ADHD or something of that nature, if they are indoors reading and playing video games they have Depression or something of that nature.

Why? No need for bickering. Doctors were prescribing Ritalin like it was candy and everyone was on the wagon.
I'm not saying some kids didn't need it, but many didn't. I think people forgot how kids act. They have short attention spans, run wild, and get on your nerves. It's what they do.

Some kids truly need medication to calm them. Just not near as many as we have/had on medication. Know what I mean?

I'm not disagreeing with you... in fact, I'm with you 100% on the whole ADHD thing. This whole over-prescribed and over-protected conversation goes well beyond meds. I'm coaching my 5 year old's T-ball team right now. The league rules mandate that every batter, and "pitcher", wear a full mask on their helmet and that "catchers" wear full protective gear - throat protector and all... :rolleyes:This is 5 and 6 year old T-ball for crying out loud!

I was just pointing out that Pitbull started the thread because he was/is suffering from insomnia and was asking for remedies. Once again, the thread quickly digressed into soapbox posts. Just trying to get back on topic.

That's how conversation works. Thank God. If personality is present, topics veer off in to others that are relative. This makes conversation interesting. I dont think it'd be any better if we all posted "yeah. I agree. Ambient."
