Funny you should mention it that way. I remember back before the shot clock when UT used to play the "stall" and my father always said exactly the same thing. "You win by the stall, you lose by the stall." What a ridiculously different game it is now.

Closest thing I can compare it to in "recent" UT history would be the Kevin O'Neil years. :hmm:

If they are so undisciplined how did they just go 16-2 in the Big east and win the conference tournament? This is the first Louisville team that really reminds me of some of Pitino's Kentucky teams, and Pitino's UK teams were built for the NCAA tournament. They arent as good as Pitino's best UK teams, but they have that same type of feel to them.

Look out for Kansas, they could make a run to the Elite 8.

They beat Pitt and Nova. No need for all that 16-2 stuff. The only good teams were Pitt and Nova.
And they should. They're the most talented team in the Big East, but losing to WK? UNLV? Struggling against Notre Dame? They'll get themselves in to trouble simply because they play "stupid" basketball far too often.

They remind me of a less talented 2007-8 Memphis Tigers. And yeah, they got to the Championship, and should have won- but many times they found themselves barely getting by because they were so undisciplined. They had better players too though. Louisville can't afford to play like that.

They struggled at the beginning of the season and had a 2 game funk in February where ND and Uconn both beat them easily. Whatever happened in November against a team like WKU (who is a good solid team BTW, sweet 16 a year ago and has a realistic shot of being a sweet 16 team this year), means little to nothing now. And sure, the big east doesnt have a uniform schedule for all teams, and I agree when talking about the 16-2 record you have to take that into consideration. But, to go 16-2 in that conference is pretty telling, especially when you put the tournament title on top of that. I think there are several teams with a realistic shot to win it, I am by no means saying Louisville is head and shoulders above the rest of the field. But they certainly have just as good a shot as anyone. Especially considering they have a coach who has been to 5 final fours and has a national title.

They won the reg. season and the tournament conference championship. Doing that in any conference is awesome.

Got ya. Well, we'll just have to watch and find out. I think they have the talent to do it, they just have to play smart.

On Mike and Mike this morning, they were talking about some study of the past 20 NCAA champs. All 20 shared specific things in common. Like, margin of victory, fg percentage, assist vs. turnover ratio. Turns out, only 2 teams have a chance of winning the tournament this year (according to this study). Those two teams are... Louisville and UNC.

lmao @ studies of stats determining a winner. "if my calculations are correct... this team wont have an injury, or go cold, or be upset by an emotionally fired up squad, or..."
