True. They also have a decent ability to draft and develop WR's and a they have a QB with a decent arm AND legs.

My point has been TO USE FREE AGENCY TO FILL NEEDS WITH THE BEST FREE AGENTS AVAILABLE.

The usual response to that point is the "value" card that people only want to play ONE side.

You're the one being ridiculous. Everyone knows that four leaf clovers and rabbit feet don't bring you luck... male tortoiseshell cats do.

This is going a little far. The better team doesn't always win. There is a lot of luck that comes into play. Was it not unlucky that when Lendale fumbled the ball it shot directly into Leonhard's stomach? How about when Crumpler fumbled 3 feet from the sidelines yet the ball stayed in play? What do you call that? A lucky bounce I think.

It definitely comes down to skill but to think there is no luck involved is ridiculous.

OK well congratulations on citing the three best teams of the past 10 years as your example. I never said it takes nothing more then luck, I just said luck is definitely part of the equation. You don't think the Colts got lucky when they got to play the Bears in the Super Bowl? Or how about the 250 yards of penalties that the Steelers opponents had called against them in their two SB wins? Or how about them Pats. Luck has nothing to do with it, so the Giants were obviously the better team when they won the Super Bowl, right? Wrong.

I understand that we haven't won a Super Bowl. What I don't understand is your beef with the organization. We are putting together a young, relentless, and reasonably priced team here, all the while getting hated upon relentlessly by the likes of you. If MR threw 15 mill at Housch would you be happy with our front office? Or if we drafted a few busted a$s wide receivers in the first round would that please you? It takes time and patience to build a franchise. Ask the Cowboys, you can't just buy a championship with big names. Our time is coming, we're getting better every year, yet people like you still find a way to b*tch about a good thing....the line between fan and hater gets blurred with these antics

No one is saying that it's just luck, but you have to have some luck along the way. I think the front office and Fisher do a good job of keeping us competitive and near the top of the heap, and in a position where we can win a superbowl. We haven't yet, but I don't think that means that the system doesn't work.

This difference in how much "luck" is involved in playoff victories may simply be a difference of philosophy.

I don't believe in "luck"- at least not past the coin toss when it comes to competitive sports. I believe that events are a summation of preceeding variables- almost all of which can be modulated.

IMO- it was bad luck that caused LenDale to fumble- it was a difference in execution between the Ravens' Defense and LenDale's ball carrying. Same for Alge. There were numerous events that we could have speculated that could have provided us with 4 or more points or less points for the Ravens. It is a very passive ideology simply to cast it as bad luck.

btw- GoTitans3801- nobody said the system doesn't work, only that it hasn't worked to win a Super Bowl.

Probably not on this post. I am just presenting a side that I feel is too often neglected because it is so unpleasant. Truth is, I'm really light-hearted and easy going.

But at what point, when the players themselves have no control over, do these variables turn to luck? When a ball is fumbled and falls to the ground if it is given another degree of rotation it may bounce our way. Or vice versa. Would these very small but very notable variables then be considered out of the individuals hands and in turn be thought of as luck?

I would suggest that it wasn't luck that caused the fumble but poor execution by LenDale (either ball carrying or following blocks, etc). Once it's out, it's out and then it is a product of where it came out, who is closest and which way it bounces. But it wasn't luck that caused it to occur in the first place.
