Big Question is what do we do at quarterback?

Guys, we had 5 fumbles. We were STILL a single play from winning this game against the 2nd best defense behind US.

Our team is fine the way it is right now, Kerry moved the ball down the throat of Baltimore EVEN WHEN CJ was out, and once we got into scoring position OTHER players coughed it up. Part of that is because Baltimore is a hard hitting team, and part of it is the lack of security.

But, NONE of this is because of Kerry. That dude played one hell of a game and didn't make a single mistake against a team that thrives on making a lot better QB's than him break down and make mistakes. And, how can you say Alge isn't reliable? He scored the TD that beat Baltimore the first time we played if I remember correctly.

It was one of the unluckiest games this franchise has ever played - it's a game of %'s. The worst poker player in the world can beat the best once in a while with a little luck. But over time, the best player (team) will win. And Saturday, the best TEAM was the Titans. We just got unlucky on so many different levels. That is no reason to go clean house. That's a very dangerous proposal when a team is this good...just as if Doyle Brunson lost with pocket aces against an inferior hand due to luck. He's not going to go back to the drawing board and change his style..he got it in good and had a lot of unfortunate luck. That's part of the game.

 

did yall see Collins after he seen Crumpler fumble that catch?

he had his hands on his helmets like you mother ***** you just blew my shot at the SB. He might be to pissed to come back and play for us.

 

Um, exactly who did you want Kerry to get the ball to on those two plays? on the first one, CJ was already hurt and the play call was for a run. Did you want Collins to try and keep it himself rather than handing it off to the only RB in the game -- a guy who had scored more TD on the ground than basically every other back in the league? On the throw to Crumpler, I would bet Alge was NOT the first option on that play. But he was wide open. So you are saying you DON'T want Collins to throw it to the WIDE OPEN receiver. Did you want him to force it to someone who was covered or simply throw it away?

You make absolutely NO sense. Kerry did the right thing on both of those plays. It isn't his fault that LenDale and Alge fumbled.

 

So if vince threw a pick in scoring territory and then muffed a snap on 4th down in scoring territory you would also say he didn't make a single mistake?

 

Um, some of you seem to have an inflated opinion of Billy Volek. He threw for a bunch of yards in his starts for Tennessee. But he did NOT win many games. All 10 of his career starts in the NFL came with the Titans. You know what his record was in those games? 3-7!!!

What is so wonderful about a 3-7 record? Nothing.

I agree the whole situation with Volek was mishandled. It didn't help Volek and it didn't help Collins, being brought in right before the season started. But just because the situation was mismanaged does NOT mean Volek would be a good starting QB. The guy is a career backup for a reason.

 

The interception was bad -- poor decision, worse throw. But the Titans were on the 32 yard line to start that play. Let's say he simply throws the ball away. That would have brought up 4th and 8 and a possible 50-yard FG attempt. So it's borderline to say the Titans were in scoring territory on that play.

I think the muffed snap was because the center had the snap count wrong. The same thing happened later in the game, but Collins was able to catch that one. And the muff came on a 4th and 8 play. Teams aren't successful on 4th and 8 plays that often, so it's unfair to say the Titans would have gotten a 1st down if Collins hadn't muffed the snap.

Collins did not play mistake free. He missed a few throws, to be sure. But he played more than well enough to help the team win the game if they simply had held onto the ball. They committed 17 turnovers in 16 regular season games, then turned around and had 3 huge ones on Saturday. If they had had even just 1 turnover on Saturday, they win. Or if the defense doesn't blow the coverage on Baltimore's 1st TD (which was on 3rd and very long) they win. And no one would be wondering about the QB situation for next season.

 

The Titans had more yardage than any team in the playoffs: 391 yards

The Titans have allowed the LEAST amount of total yardage in the playoffs: 211 yards

You obviously weren't at the game, not even Tom Dempsey is making a 50 yard field goal into that wind. We played fine, just had too many mistakes across the board. No one person is to blame, we PLAYED and were COACHED a great game. Just coughed the ball up a few too many times, which is where the luck factor comes in.

If the Kerry INT falls incomplete, we punt and HOPE they get the ball inside the 20, which is where the INT resulted. That play was FINE..not to mention that JMAC didn't turn around as the ball was placed in the perfect spot if Jmac had read the blitz right

 

I personally agree that he would never have made for a great starter. I think he could have been a bottom tier NFL starter a few years ago.


However, I disagree with your use of record to say he was a bad quarterback. The defense during Volek's starting time wasn't very good.
