And why is it you think my original post was directed at you?? Its was actually just a general question, considering I mention the whole board not just you. And for your knowledge, I have watched atleast half a game of every NFL game this season...4 tv's and Direct TV work wonders.

Yes, CJ does deserve it over those guys. THEY WERE ALL HORRIBLE THIS YEAR. Like VY getting the pro-bowl his rookie year. He was the 8th alternate:)

Not many posts ago you were claiming it is a popularity contest...

When you play as terrible as those guys did, you're not gonna be very popular - and about half of those teams had 3 different starting RB's throughout this year.

I don't think anyone is saying CJ doesn't deserve it because he does. It's just that the dominant RBs of the AFC all took a considerable step back this year opening the door for new blood. And, CJ took advantage in earning one of those spots.

I think everyone agrees, for the AFC atleast, the standard of high rb's dropped this year....Thomas Jones having the most yards? 2 rookie rb's behind him? 1 of which runs in a duel back offense? I even hate including Brown, cause he has gotten most of his yardage(and votes) due to the wildcat.

CJ did deserve it, but its also due to the big name backs not producing like they always do.....but I also think Slaton should of got in over Brown.

Anyone else notice how close CJ and Slatons stats are....and before anyone says oh well maybe we should of waited and took Slaton, I wonder how much of Slaton's production is due to the fact teams have to focus on AJ so much?

It is, but I guess it's not as popular as the NBA. Like Yao leading the vote when he didn't even play two years ago?

Ok, so CJ had one of the best of a very poor year of running backs. I think Slaton was more deserving.

Not trying to start a war or anything....just wondering your opinion on that. How is Slaton more deserving?

Their stats are almost Identical, so you can throw that comparison out the window...next thing you have is how do they contribute to their team and record, well CJ has that beat.

And Slaton has been a product of a team that has had massive injuries/setbacks at runningback. He got the start well because there was no one else.

I too feel Slaton should be in, certainly over Brown...Im just wondering why you think Slaton is more deserving than CJ?

Record is what put C.J. over Slaton..... Playing for the Texans i'm sure Slaton will get used to that real fast:ha:

WHOA there, Sir Jwill! If a guy like Johnson makes it in his first year, its because he's got something special going.

You talked about long runs, but they're not as important as yards-per-carry. Chris is tied for 3rd in the league (of backs having at least 150 carries), behind only DeAngelo Williams and Brandon Jacobs. He's tied with Peterson (the #1 back) and Slaton with 4.9 ypc. Pretty good company!

He IS an important component of our offense.

If Tennessee had a legitamate downfield threat at WR(aka an Andre Johnson type guy) I am pretty sure with the Oline we have, CJ's yds and yds per carry would be through the roof.

I remember watching the few times Felix Jones ran, and why his yds per carry were so high....Dallas has that downfield pass threat...if teams are backing off the line, it can open up HUGE lanes...Jones took great advantage of that.

Im telling you, regardless if Collins is the QB, if Tennessee had that deep play WR, I think CJ could do even better than he has. We just dont have a guy, like Slaton has w/ AJ, that makes defenses worry about the run and the pass.
