Somebody in Jacksonville is working on a story about officiating and tried to get Tony Dungy to talk about an increase in controversial game-ending calls this season.

Dungy went a different direction with it, articulating his objections to the way replay seems to be evolving.

Here are the pertinent question and answers from his conference call with media in northeastern Florida today.

On officiating controversy this season because there have been some big calls just prior to the game ending:

"I don't know if that makes a difference but what you have, I'm not a big fan of instant replay and now we have these and we're moving the ball six inches or two inches and making it fourth and an inch rather than a first down and we're trying to decipher exactly what happened. When we put it in we said we said that it was going to have to be something very obvious and visually obvious and now I don't know if we know what that is or not. I guess I'm less of a fan of replay and more of a fan of our guys who officiate and you're going to get some calls that don't go your way and you have to overcome it."

On if it seems that instant replay is making things more complicated:

"I don't know what the standard is anymore and a lot of things are coming in to play and it's just I have never been a fan of it and we've had some calls over turned and gone the wrong way that it's just hard to see. The other thing is I think they're letting replay fix some things instead of calling exactly what's on the field. It is what it is and you have to adapt to it and overcome it I guess."

Dungy doesnt want replay because it makes it harder for the refs to cheat for "the chosen one".

There is only one Chosen one and he doesn't play for the Colts.

Replay was suppose to correct the missed calls that were obvious when we all saw the replays.
But when things like what we saw Sunday in the Pitt/Balt game happen, it is doing the opposite of what it was intended to do. The right call was made on the field (no TD) and after the zebra looks under the hood, he reverses the right call (without irrefutable evidence) and replay makes a good call bad.

If reynaldo could only line up on the DL then he would be the chosen one

i agree, the rule says "irrefutable evidence" not what you think happened.
