Top C in the draft falls to #30?

Centers aren't exactly the most coveted players in the first round. Mangold was the best C prospect in the last 10 years and he went at #29 in the first.

I agree that if Spikes is there you take him... but I don't know that he is a MLB in the NFL. He is more likely a DE or a rush LB in a 3-4 scheme. My brother and I have been talking about it for two years, but the Vanderbilt-UF games announcers were the first to bring it up. He's a big kid, 6'3" or 6'4", about 250+lbs right now. Really talented player... like I said, you take him, see where he fits. That's kinda what the Giants did with Mathias Kiwanuka with a similar late round 1 pick, and it's worked for them.

If we got Maclin or Harvin along with a good defensive player we'd be set.

I could see Harvin or Maclin dropping in the 2nd. DL is probaly the biggest priority if AH leaves. Even then I don't know if Kearse can last another season. Maybe we should draft Mangold because Mawae is degressing and I'm not a fan of Amano. I think we really need a WR no matter what though. Gage isn't playing well and the only bright spots are B. Jones who is injury prone and the rookie Hawkins who has only made a couple questions. My top 3 positions of need:

    1) WR- really need a WR who can catch the ball. We probaly won't draft one in the 1st but hopefully in the 2nd.

    2) DB- My main concerns are Harper and Hope. Just drafting a player to replace on of them would give us depth for that following season.

    3) DL- Maybe an end to eventually replace Kearse or if AH leaves.

I didn't put LB on there because we could easily draft a 1st round LB the next season and Tulloch, Bulluck, Thornton core is good for another 1-2 years.

I don't see Spikes being a rush LB, frankly I think that would be a waste of his talents. He has prototypical size of a MLB (6-3, 240). He has great instincts on the inside, and is just too good of a prospect/player at MLB to be thrown to the outside. He's a hard hitter and can cover. The guy was built to play MLB, IMO.

Sure, he's athletic enough to be effective if moved to rush LB, but so are players like Urlacher & Willis. You put the guy where he'll make the biggest impact, and for Spikes, that place is MLB.

    Updated Again.

Were still taking Harvin. I don't mind that but I think I might want Derrick Williams more if Maclin is gone. I can't see how we let Haynesworth go, I mean it would be like the Colts letting Manning go IMO. If we were stupid enough to do that then yea DT becomes the #1 need. But assuming he stays and we don't get a big name receiver in free agency I'd take Williams in round 1 and in round 2 I like Travis Beckum.

Williams shouldn't be a First rounder imo. He had a good freshman year until he broke his arm, two bad years and then his senior year has been a great year. I think we could get him in the second. He'd also be the punt returner we need since Carr seems to struggle a little on those. He'd also be great on kicks alongside Carr. That is if we keep Carr.

    Dude degressing isn't even a word......:wink2:

Yeah we almost have to go WR even though BJ and Gage are showing sign of life we need a guy that commands respect from the secondary. I don't think Maclin or Harvin last to us but Darrius Heyward-Bey from Maryland is a super athletic WR at 6'3 205 he has good size and is a homerun threat with his quicks and speed.

If we don't go WR don't be suprised if we go DE.

I could see us go corner if we don't go WR.

DE or CB in the first, IMO.
