We can't afford Albert, that's why he didn't sign last year. I'm thinking back on his first two years when he was showing up out of shape and with poor work ethic. His work ethic improved when someone got through to him as to what his future would hold money wise, if his ethics changed. Kinda like bucking for a promotion. Once you land the promotion, the butt-kissing stops. I truely believe that once he signs long term, his production and injuries will become a problem.
What would I do in his shoes? I would take whatever offer the Titans made, within reason, and sign! Why? Because some team out there with no defensive line what-so-ever is going to pay embarrassingly for him to be their entire D-Line. He will get pounded week after week, game after game, trying to hold up that D-Line.......... with his past work ethics no less. Here in Tennessee, he is with a group considered the best 4 D-Linemen in football and he's taking a beating. What's going to happen to him without KVB, the Freak and Brown standing next to him. Take the contract. You'll stay in the league longer and you'll be healthier when you leave it.

He will never take that. The way things are going it will take at least what tommie harris got but there are rumors going around that he was offered a similar deal and turned it down.

The harris deal.. 4 years $40M..$16.5M in guarantees and a $6.5M SB.

To keep this guy we will likely need to make him the highest paid DT in the league. That means more than that.

Dicking around with a small salary larger incentive won't work he can demand almost anything he wants.

Well, I say we make the first year fully guaranteed, unless in case of suspension. He'd like a guaranteed salary of $12 mil staring him in the face.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone offered him ~50-55+ mil for 4 years if he continues to be dominate through the season. With something like 18-20mil guaranteed.

I knew Al would be on a diff team the moment we franchised him. I think we all know MR by now.

If, and how and who, we win the SB this year determines who we re-sign...

If we come close this year I can see Al re-signing here if we offer him a decent contract.
