Texas tech was actually vince's worst game passing wise his last year. He played in the big 12 which is a top 3 conference every year. I understand that numbers don't always translate to college but don't make it sound like he never played anyone, and only put up numbers against bad defenses. He has a pretty good game against "the best team ever" and their were probably at least 8 guys from that defense who are in the nfl.

Teams in the Big 12 put up huge points, they are top 3 because of the offensive output. Aside from Oklahoma, who in the Big 12 has a good consistent defense?

That year USC allowed 28 pts to AZ St, 31 to Notre Dame, 24 to Washington, 21 to Stanford, 42 to Fresno, and not once allowed a team to score single digits. Are you under the illusion that defense got them to the championship game? I guess it wasn't the 63,70,45,38,42,34,51,55,51,35,50,66 they scored in each game that season.

Please name 3 for me. Only guy I could think of was Darnell Bing who the Raiders moved to LB, then cut him as a rookie I believe. Keith Rivers and Sed Ellis were both Redshirt Sophomores who barely played.

There were about 10-11 players who made it to the league... perhaps some were cut.

Frostee Rucker, LaJuan Ramsey, Lawrence Jackson are a few more...

You guys can talk about Vince's struggles in the NFL all you want... but trying to belittle what he did in college, is just a bit of a stretch. I don't care if they were the worst defenses in the country... Texas averaged 50 points a game... And the USC game along with the Ohio State game, he faced good athletes, as far as college athletics go.

I've not seen a lot of data which shows a running QB gets hurt any more than a pocket passer. Young's latest injury occurred when he was barely out-of-the-pocket.

The majority of QB injuries are when a they're hit while in the pocket. Maybe that is because most QBs STAY in the pocket but even most of McNair's injuries were when he was hit in the pocket.

McNair sternum injury came while running...his back that required surgery in California occured while running across the goaline.
Seems like some of his worse injuries came while on the run...

the busted bone spur he suffered in 02 was in the pocket as marcus washington dove at his ankles. i think that's the injury that doomed his career. he was never the same after that season.

didn't he break a finger on his throwing hand against the colts in the pocket too?

I hope we resign Collins and he starts next year, with Vince Young starting the year after, Collins could handle the game while Vince learns and develops into a better player.

I remember when he was diving for the endzone and got hammered in mid air. He then had to go to California for back surgery, but returned after missing just a few games. Can't remember the game, but O'Donnell filled in and won while he was out...
