Of the FUTURE? No way! Only the near future, the next 3-4 games. He's old and getting slower. Doesn't have it in him. Won't last. Is yesterday's news....

First of all, let's call it what it is. For the most part the "Running QB" is a black QB. I think the more proper term should be "Highly Mobile QB". Some will throw out Tarkenton or Young, but the first of the true "Running QB" was Randall Cunningham.

Since then you've only had a few of these QB's who were good enough to be constant starters in the NFL, Randall, McNair, McNabb, Culpepper, and Vick. That's it. They have been successful QB's. Four of them were SB caliber QB's. McNair and McNabb both went, Randall's injury season killed his SB hopes, and Culpepper was a stupid coaching decision away from a SB. Vick would have been much better had he been on a better team. He showed on occasion that when asked he could throw for 250 yards in a game.

Remember, this type of QB is very new and there haven't been enough who were good enough to be a real starter to say that the "expirement" is over.

I thought the goal was to keep your QB clean? You saw what happened to David Carr, and you see how Big Ben is getting beaten up? I don't understand the logic in making someone your top pick to play QB, signing them to 100Mil deals and then let them have their career shortened because they can only run the ball. Would you rather have; Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady for 12-15 years or Vince Young, Pat White, Tim Tebow for 7 years?

It's the nfl, guys have the possibility of getting injured. Brady's out for the season and he didn't do it running around. Mcnabb gets injured every year and it's usually not because of scrambling. Organizations usually don't consider how often someone will get injured when drafting because there's no way to determine that, unless the guy is just injury prone.

I know everyone gets injured, it's a contact sport. However, the probability is a lot higher when you have a running QB. Donovan McNabb tore his ACL trying to get away from KVB, he got a sports hernia running and scrambling three years ago. Every injury he's had, he's gotten because of the beating he's taken outside of the pocket, and he's a passer; you can only imagine what it would be like if he was strictly a runner and actually took shots.

As for the Organization not taking that into account, that's BS. If you take a running QB, you know you're basically taking a RB, so he better be able to hold up to a major beating.

Didn't we end McNabb's season year before last as he scrambled out of bounds?

I think "out of the pocket" QB's are awesome **as I count the Superbowls all of they have won**

I think that with this type of player durability will have to become a factor when choosing them, just like what is done with running backs now.

Nate, I've already explained that and I refuse to repeat myself any more. If you would like to continue to think you have a point when you don't, be my guest.

The only way a 'scrambling' qb can be good is if he has the ability to pass the ball. Scrambling should be an added bonus when picking out a franchise QB, not the sole reason for choosing that guy. You must be an accurate passer in this league, bud. Defenses like Baylor and Texas Tech are for stat boosting QBs in college and doesn't remotely translate to the NFL.

Kerry Collins IMO is comparable to VY in passing. There stats are very similar.

The difference are those legs of VY. The question is will he be able to run after his knee injury. If he gets back on the field we will find out.

And those who keep saying VY won't run don't know what their talking about. Remember this preseason VY was breaking some pretty nice runs. So, I believe he was ready this season to take off if need be.

It's unfortunate that things played out the way they have this season. But the silver lining is if he comes back it will be because he has regained the trust of his teamates and more importantly his coach.

2 leg injuries in less than a year hasn't helped.
