Thanks BIPOLAR. Glad the post helped in your moment of insight . . . hefeweizen is always good at greasing the insight wheels though. Lets hope VY turns out as good as McNair did.

Why don't you extend this same courtesy to the receiving corps?

Since I've actually seen potential in Young then I only give it to him. Most of our WR's have been hurt to often to make an impact or they've never made an impact.

I alway wonder why people don't remember that Mac struggled and couldn't throw a pass downfield to save his life. Frank Wycheck was the leading reciver for 3 or four years b/c of it. I guess it's b/c people that are Titans fans became so when they moved to Tennessee, and did not see the start of Mac's career, which again was very frustrating to say the least. VY pisses me off when he doesn't play well, but I am by no means screaming that he will always suck, and we made a terrible pick. I am a firm believer that he will be succesful in time....TIME people, let's give him another season or two, then make judgements. Last time I looked Cutler and Leinart weren't fairing much better with a more talented receving Corps.

Vince's throwing motion will never allow him to be a great passer. He could be better than he's been but throwing fundamentals are there for a reason. For the life of me I can't understand why they don't fix it. They change MLB pitching motions all the time. If he's as gifted of an athlete as advertised, then I would think he would have no problem adjusting.

As for VY vs McNair... We can talk about how good Vince is "gonna be" till we're blue in the face. Fact is, he hasn't accomplished squat, as of yet, and he looks like he has hardly improved. Sure, he'll win games with his feet. He's a winner, no doubt, but how long can you win games with a running QB?? If I had a chance to take McNair at 80% or a healthy VY (right now) I'd take Mac 9 everytime. At least you know what you get with him.

there's nothing wrong with his motion, it's all from the hips down.

there was one pass in the second quarter when he missed brandon jones by about 5 yards out of bounds because when he threw he stepped forward towards the middle of the field instead of stepping towards the direction he wanted to throw.

Dick Vitale: Vince Young vs Steve McNair? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!!?!?!?

Anyways, Vince Young may be awful, but I'm still going to keep drafting him in my fantasy leagues!

When he throws the ball from the side he leaves himself open for various mistakes like the ball sailing on him, or missing the target left or right... And so on... It's harder to be accurate when you throw from the side. Most pitchers wish they could throw the ball more from the side and still throw strikes becuse the release point gives the ball more movement. This isn't good for QB's that need nothing more than a straight accurate pass. Sure QB's with proper throwning motions can make the same mistakes and do, but when you have the right mechanics it's easier to fix. Again, I'm not sayiing he can't be a good passer. He can! I doubt he'll ever be great though. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he ever becomes a "good" passer.

    Hey Rcarie,

You certainly may not think that VY will be a good passer and you may believe that because of his throwing motion. My point is, that we don't yet know and that it took our Titan hero until his 6th season to be a good passer. Maybe he had a better throwing motion (I am no expert) but I he had plenty of problems as a passer. Whatever those problem were they took a while to iron out in the NFL. I think the same could certainly be true for Young, like you said, he throwing motion could be improved perhaps and that might take time. The whole point of my thread is that we need to be patient and we can't know for sure whether VY will be a good quarterback or not after his second or third season. Its just too soon to tell, as Steve McNair demonstrated in his career. You noted that VY is showing no improvement (which not being a quarterback expert I will leave up to the coaches to decide) but in his first two or three seasons, Steve McNair showed no apparent improvement either. Good thing we stuck with him regardless because eventually he was an MVP.
