    Hey folks...

Heads up on the iphone 2.0 software upgrade. Don't upgrade just yet. Apple's servers are having big problems. I finally got the download, but for awhile my phone wasn't activated. Now it is active, but can't sync music yet. I will say the new apps are awesome. Some extremely useful, some just fun, but alot are free.

    Just a fyi.

Yea, I'm itching to upgrade before I go out of town this weekend... but I think I'm going to wait just in case. I'd hate to get stuck with a deactivated phone before I head out. I wasted most of the day looking through the apps on itunes, and there's a bunch that look pretty slick.

I finally got my iphone to sync up. Still in the process. I had to completely restore my phone. I think most will be fine to do it over the weekend, but just make sure you have patience.

A new 8 gig Iphone 3G is $199, right? Didn't the older version of these phones come out at like $600 a year ago?

  5. Yep, it's much cheaper up front than a year ago. Of course, the AT&T plan costs more so it's a tradeoff.

    "almost"??

  8. Well, for what it's worth, the 3G connection speeds are worth the higher costs if you're in a 3G area. And other smartphones have equally expensive data plans, so it's not just a premium for the iPhone.

The text messaging plans are pathetic, however...

Yeah, for example, I was looking at buying a cheap guitar. Almost every review I read of it says it's better than what you'd expect at that price range. I haven't bought it yet, so it still may be too good to be true. But I have got cheaper stuff before that really surprised me....thought this phone could be one.

Their plan prices do look kinda high, but if I'm reading it right, I can get 450 min, free nights/weekends, 200 texts, and the unlimited email/net for $75. With my main phone being a work phone, I can handle that small plan.

What is that text under your name Avvie? Saw similar jibba jabba when I was looking through Japanese sites looking for guitars.

I was told by ATT people that you can buy the 3G iPhone and use it for your PDA and not have to pay the hefty price for the phone plans.
Not sure of the exact details that are invovled.
