    How many linebackers run a 4.35 40?

    http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=59119

This is stupid! The guy has been a first team nfl safety twice in the last 3 years.

FYI roy williams and gunny's hero adrian wilson both ran a 4.53 40. Gunny thinks that wilson who is a big as our 2 starting OLBs is a super quick cover guy. :sad2:

Please remove head from arse. Sanders is not a typical strong safety.

As for roy williams? He has made 5 pro bowls since he came into the league in 2002 so please by all means hold him up as an example of a player who truly sucks.

Wow. Who cares what a linebacker runs? Who cares what Bob Sanders runs?

    Ed Reed ran a 4.57
    Chris Hope 4.58
    Sean Taylor 4.54

These are, of course, COMPLETELY irrelevant to coverage skills.

How about using real facts and stats (Interceptions, Pass Defense, you know actual coverage statistics) to back up your point, not popularity contests such as Pro Bowls.

lol, and where did I say Wilson was a super quick coverage guy? I said he was a better coverage guy and hey, I have proof.

You know what is hilarious? In Wilson's best season he ties Sanders for CAREER interceptions (4) and almost beats him in CAREER pass defences (11 vs 13). Beats him in CAREER sacks (5 vs 3.5).

But no, Sanders is just a superstar cover guy.

Good on you. Come back when you got some evidence.

Compare Wilson and Sanders in every stat category and Wilson beats him out every time.

Obviously not last year when wilson only had 44 tackles.

Sanders has only been in the league for 4 years and only played almost every game in 2 seasons. In those 2 seasons he was a first team all nfl safety. 1st team all nfl as in top 2?

    An education for gunny..

Making the pro bowl in general can be the result of popularity or reputation. Or a guy slides in because 2 other players didn't go like how bethea got in this year. What i'm talking about homer, duh is FIRST TEAM ALL PRO as in he was voted as one of the 2 best safeties in the whole damn league. Voted ahead of palamalu, dawkins, lynch, williams and even the great adrian wilson.

There are 64 starting safeties in this league and in 2 of the last 3 seasons he was voted among the top 2. The 2005 top 2 were sanders and palamalu and sanders. the 2006 top 2 were reed and dawkins. 2007 reed and sanders.

wow. Another clueless post. You do know that the MEDIA chooses who makes the All-Pro teams, right? Not the coaches or the players? You do realize that Antonio freakin Cromartie made First team and there are at least 15 more complete CBs in the league than him, including his teammate Quentin Jammer?

40 times are absolutely useless when you are comparing safeties. The 3-cone drill and the 20 yard shuttle are much more useful. Nobody is saying that Bob isnt fast. He clearly is, but he consistently gets beat in coverage.

And I would just stop talking if you think that Roy Williams is a good safety, just because of his pro bowls. The guy is taken out during passing downs. No legit safety is taken out during specific situations.

Do some freakin research, RollTide. You honestly lack adequate knowledge about the safeties in the NFL and what their roles in their defense are.

Using interceptions to compare 2 players who play 2 completely different roles in their respective defenses does not prove anything, sorry. The thing is, though, by just watching them play, like you have, the proof is in the pudding. Wilson is a better coverage player than Sanders. Is he Kerry Rhodes? No, but he is solid.

And the all-pro team is also a popularity contest. If it wasnt, then Lorenzo Neal, Walter Jones, Alan Faneca, Mike Vrabel, Asante Samuel, Antonio Cromartie, Bob Sanders, and Ed Reed would not have been on the team.

Ok super genius what safeties should have been there over sanders and reed?

You can't just blow off every pro bowl selection or all pro selection as BS. Cromartie was there because he had a spectacular season to say the least. Vrabel had one of his best seasons ever.

Again name the 2 better safeties last year. I can't wait for a waft of stupidity on this one.
