I would rate our safeties and the colts even. Sanders is obviously better than hope but griffin gets the edge over bethea. Injuries are a factor here since sanders has missed some games and hope is coming off a serious injury.

Had we drafted this guy we would have the best safeties in the whole league. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=57269

Sanders is the best S in the league. But, the gap between him and Griff is smaller than the one between Hope and Bethea.

    Fits perfect in our 3 S defense! :grrhee: I'd rather have a 3rd down RB than a 3rd S.

I think Bob Sanders is the best individual safety of the group. But I like the Titans combo better than the Colts. It's close though.

What about the Jags? What's everyone's opinion on Reggie Nelson? He had some good plays last season.

Also, I'm reading Gerald Sensabaugh as the listed likely starter opposite Nelson.

He's returning from surgery, so I don't rank the Jags group as high as Titans or Colts. But I think Reggie Nelson has potential.

What does Bob Sanders have to do with that he only created 2 turnovers last year.

He is not the best safety in this league. Troy Palamalu, Ed Reed, and Brian Dawkins are better.

Palamalu didn't have a good season last year. 0 sacks, 0 ints. Sanders had 38 more tackles playing for the better defense!

Dawkins is 35 years old, coming off a bad year and probably in decline.

Ed reed is comparable to anyone but reed doesn't play in the box and stop the run like sanders. Hell reed only had 29 solo tackles vs sanders' 71 and sanders was in on 57 more total tackles than reed!

The 2 1st team all nfl safeties were reed and sanders. Sanders is the ultimate in the box guy and reed the ultimate FS cover guy.

Sanders is a large reason why the colts were 6th in average yards per carry defense. In the 2 seasons when he was healthy all year the colts were 2nd and 1st respectively in scoring defense. It would be assinine to suggest he isn't a major reason why.

I believe Sanders may be the best S in the league, he's just an excellent player imo. I guess I slightly like our two guys better than the Colts two guys, but it's very close to me....but this is a Titans site, so....:bighomer:

Sorry if you are a Safety playing as a Linebacker, you're the not the best Safety in the league.

Reed and Wilson are two examples who can cover and tackle. They are better.

Maybe not the best "pure" safety but as long as he plays the position he is eligible to be one of the best safety. That's like saying VY could never be the best QB because of his running skills.

Difference is a QBs job is to throw, running is just extra.

A Safety needs to be able to tackle and cover.
