Week of the combine is here. I'm off all week except friday, so this will be the first one I see a TON of in years.
Combine is overrated in my opinion they base way too much off of it, when all they need to know is on film
Mainly for the medicals/physicals and interviews. Teams have watched enough film already get a good idea of what the player can do on the field. During interviews with Chicago, the Bears set up a putting green and dart board; to help loosen up the prospect and see their competitiveness.
No. This statement is biased opinion. I watch Big Ten football the most every year... and even I didn't know Chig was that fast. The combine helps put a number on some of the tape, and if it doesn't match the tape, then it puts underlying questions on the tape. And that's the job of scouts to sort through.
It has some value. Measurements and the explosion tests help. Top end speed for corners. If the production doesn't match the athleticism scores you have to wonder why. Interviews can be good but some of these teams just ask bull****. I'm guessing a huge part is the medical evaluation too.
