Lot of factors to consider. I agree almost entirely, but what the raiders did with Adams is make him a focal point week in and week out, Miami did the same with Hill.
Tennessee was never going to make brown the focal point to justify that money.

I would have been much happier signing AJ than Landry.... in the grand scheme of things that's what we chose --- Landry over AJ.... and look where that got us, Landry didn't step on the field all season, and AJ went to the Super Bowl.

And our run first mentality can work, but you're burning it at both ends if you show consistency in being inconsistent at the offensive coordinator spot ...... That would frighten any WR or TE in FA signing with us -- at that point you're backed into a corner using a draft pick, or trading for an injured contract that another team is trying to dump..... AJ going to the SB is coincidental to which team he was traded to. It’s not like he went to the SB because he was traded, way more complex than that.

Overall, I agree with your sentiment and the basic idea that it was Landry over Brown.
To argue, not using our hindsight, basics of TN not using the WR in the way that a WR getting paid as much as Brown wanted, vs. how TN was using an edge rusher coming off 15 sacks is the situation without names.

We now see that Landry was clearly product of Simmons/Autry as a bunch of no names picked up the slack in his absence almost entirely.
We also see that Burks has a long way to go before I can say he replaced Brown. The only thing we do know, is Brown was not getting 1500 yards in TN. Based on the TD passes thrown, hard to argue he matches that TD number too even if he does improve the passing game. We also can see the case that he may not play 17 games in TN like he did in Philly.

All kinds of factors to consider when the trade happened, but hindsight only makes it look worse of a trade off in the spending department.

Part of me believes we could have garnished more in a trade involving Landry...... He was coming off a pristine season, and pass rushers are the second most important part of a roster - behind LT...

AJ had back to back injury plagued seasons, so that had to have been a bearing in us only getting a 1st and a 3rd.

Its not necessarily about how you run the offence. It's just that there's so much money you can spend on a team. It's math. If your QB and WR are taking up 30 to 40% of your cap, how the heck are you going to field a competitive team?

Obviously there's variance, but I still prioritize QB > DE > LT > WR. Honestly, I may even put a top tier CB or S above WR too. There's a lot of average WRs with rings, while some of the all-time greats have bare knuckles.

Year 1 goes to AJ, but hard to really compare when there's a freak injury. Especially to a player who had been an ironman up to this point.

Let's not forget though, we're talking about 5 year contracts. We'll see what happens. Generally speaking though, I'd rather overpay an Edge than on WR. Especially on power run team.

    I’m with you.
I just think that team scheme is an additional reason TN might roll with the decision they made.

We also do not know the back channels between player and team. Maybe it just couldn’t be salvaged so to speak. Inside baseball is just that, and we ain’t inside.

Listened to the AJ interview that he recently gave.... my question is what constitutes tampering.... AJ was not a free agent and so AJ and his agent should not have been talking to Philly about a contract unless the Titans gave him permission to seek a trade.... is it legal for a player on another team to act as the liason between the gm and a player under contract with another team?
