Don't they go from bus straight to the airplane without even touching the terminals.

Probably. But who says Downing can't run in and down a few shots before or after the plane ride?

There's no excuse for the DUI but there's a chance he consumed the alcohol before/after the plane ride.

There's also a chance there is/has been alcohol on every NFL teams plane ride and this is just coming to light after the high profile DUI stuff in the NFL (Reeds son etc). Doesn't excuse Downings actions but something the NFL hasnt enforced until it was in the public eye.

According to one news report I read, he consented and failed the test. Don't remember for sure but I think it was The Tennessean.

The guy is a terrible offensive coordinator. We’ve been ranked near the bottom of the league in offense since he took over. Now he could very easily cost the team a draft pick with his ignorant choice off the field. Why keep this guy employed? Enough is enough. It makes zero sense why Todd Downing should continue to be a part of this team. There are plenty of negatives but zero positives when it comes to him.

His opening game scripts have been a thing of beauty.

Death threats are whack and definitely happen in sports, but to use that as an excuse for speeding + a DUI is even more whack.

Nah, I'm one of Downings biggest critics on here but I'd like to think everyone on here is as grounded to earth as me and realise that sending death threats via social media is cowardly and idiotic especially over a game of sport. Do I believe he's had threats yea, is it the cause for him driving under the influence? no, I don't believe it. Every player on this team has probably had some kind of threat against them from some whack job. But these whack jobs rather send threats behind a screen and believe what they post and think they have merit rather than debate on a forum and risk being the unpopular opinion.

My statement was pointed more at people who were clearly saying the threats didn't happen.

I'm 100% sure some nuts have been threading Downing since he's been OC. There are people who take sports and entertainment WAY too seriously. Are they on this forum? Maybe not but some here would make me wonder. Lol.

Just throwing this out there, but maybe there actually was a particular threat that Downing just got wind of that made him think "oh ****, maybe I should go home to my family just in case". Probably not, but it's at least plausible. Most likely, thats just the first excuse he thought of and thought the cops would feel sorry for him.
