Bye Tannehill

I think I want to draft a QB 1st round. Let the rookie sit for a year. Decide if Tannehill should be cut after 2022, or let him play out the last year of his contract. Worst case, the rookie sits for 2 years.

 

Like 18 million in dead cap space. As long as he doesn't play terrible, he'll be easy to trade at that price. Any remotely decent QB costs a premium in this league both in money and draft pick value. Need to look no further than the Wentz trade.


The only trade that makes even a remote amount of sense for us this year is a Russell Wilson trade. But that would assume he demands a trade sort of like the Stafford situation last year. Otherwise, there is no way Seattle would even consider such a trade.

 

Malik Willis, Matt Corrall, and Carson Strong probably have the highest upsides in the class based on their overall ability, but all have varying degrees of risk. Kenny Pickett is the most NFL ready. Reminds me a good of bit of Baker Mayfield without the attitude issues. Of course he'll likely be the 1st QB taken so it isn't likely he will be available to us.

 

Restructuring doesn’t do what you think it does. It just makes him more difficult to move on from.

 

We just need to be steadfast with him this next season and then cut him or trade him in 2023.

Exactly. Look no further than Tannehill having a 50 million cap hit if cut due to his restructure this past offseason

 

If we didn’t bench Mariota for Tannehill in 19, we could have been in position to get burrow but what did we know back then. OY, just not our luck.
