I have no interest in arguing, and some good points were made here. I do think the following points need to be added (or I missed them in this 4 page debate).

    1. Offenses did start skewing deep pass heavy after the DPI and roughing the passer rule changes.
    2. Defenses adapted and focused more on speed in the secondary and/or more zone schemes.
    3. Offenses are now adapting back and going with bigger packages and rushing attacks.
    4. Less and less teams are using a primary featured RB and more than usual are using a 2 or 3 RB committee.

Are ya scared to respond directly to me or something? Lol

And what happened in the playoffs last year? Hint: it’s the point you keep avoiding in this thread.

Fully agree on all points here.

can you see any of these changes altering a QBs ability to win a SB?
Overall statistics may have shifted how teams achieve their numbers, but the numbers remain appx the same.

It’s really a point of, do you think we are still in an era that a pedestrian QB can win a SB? Or do teams require an “elite” QB to win the game for the team?

The idea that THill can be a safe QB that isn’t relied on to win, shouldn’t eliminate him as a “good enough” QB to win a SB. Just comparing to the recent examples that are similar, 2013 Wilson, 2015 Manning, Foles, and Flacco.

*rule changes favor offense and QB’s*

“How does a rule change affect a QB’s ability to win?”

    LOL

Foles was playing at an elite level in the playoffs. He outplayed every QB he faced. He wasn’t carried by a RB.

The other examples had some of the best defenses of all time. Peyton and Russell are definitely elite QB’s too. Flacco also had some ridiculous numbers in the playoffs the year they won the super bowl. 11 TD’s 0 INT’s 285 YPG in 4 games.

Cool. So your opinion still remains THill can’t win. Titans need a change at QB.

With a healthy Henry, AJ, Julio and the D playing well Tannehill can win a SB...any or all of those missing he can't...he is a good QB, just not elite

Yep. But I realize finding an elite QB is incredibly difficult. I’d rather we be in the hunt than in QB purgatory for sure.

The reality is Tannehill hasn’t been able to win when we needed him to step up. KC in 19 and last year Baltimore.

I will gladly eat crow if I’m wrong. Hell I’ll eat crow if RT7 doesn’t touch 100 yards passing in any game and we win a SB. I want him to be successful just as much as anyone. But I’m not going to be some blind homer either.

There’s a reason the Bucs went from a .500 team to super bowl champion after adding an elite QB.

Don’t know what your point of directly responding is about.

    We lost. It happens.

Agree. The formula was there against NE and Balt 2 years ago.
I think he’s capable of more than that but not good enough to be relied upon to win games.

I think it’s a real problem if Henry isn’t healthy for the playoffs, very little faith THill can get the job done and certainly not for 3/4 straight games against the best in the league.

I think the Bucs did more than just add Brady too. Their D was definitely top notch as well last year. I know they added Gronk but I really think he was mostly a non factor as far as SB caliber team or not.

I don’t disagree and won’t discredit Brady’s impact. But you must also acknowledge that they added Suh, Gronk, AB, Fournette, Haeg, and drafted top positional players in the draft in OT Tristan Wirfs and S Antoine Winfield.
