Yes and we also didn’t commit 4 years and like $120 million into him. No way Tannehill will be benched anytime soon. He hasn’t played poorly enough to be benched either.

    That wasn't Tannehill's only bad game...being 8-3 saves him from a benching

Like Logan Woodside can do any better given all of the injuries to key skill position players on offense.

Tannehill hasn’t been what he was the past two seasons, but acting like he needs to be benched is crazy.

Well we’ve never seen Woodside play outside of preseason.

I’m not saying I would bench Ryan but I remember when this board was saying that very same thing about Tannehill and Mariota.

The timing wouldn’t make sense to bench him either. He had 1 pick early in the game. 2, 3, 4 all came midway or later in the 4th qtr. #2 came down 13, #3 and 4 came down 6.

I’m not sold woodside could have done better if the entire starting roster was still playing AND the titans ran an offense that would utilize Jones and brown.

While I haven’t been exactly jumping for joy over Tanny’s play this year, the weekend coaches on this site are quick to jump ship. I’m not going act like he’s even been good, because he hasn’t. He’s been pretty terrible at times. Especially yesterday.

BUT… Tanny has proven that he can play at a near elite level when put in the right system with the right parts.

The Oline has been a revolving door and protection has been lacking, we’re down to our practice squad WRs, the best RB in a generation is out, and one of the biggest issues, he has a new OC that hasn’t been good either.

These same people calling for benching Tanny are the same ones who used to complain about Arthur Smith too. How does he compare to his replacement now? Again, be careful what you wish for.

IF we can get healthy, and IF Downing can finally get the hang of things, then Tanny will more than likely be fine again. He’s not the guy that’s going to put the team on his back and will his team to victory. That guy on this team is King Henry. But he is the best QB we’ve seen here since that one good season from Hasselbeck. To throw in the towel now under these circumstances would be asinine.

We can also go through some of the pre-2020 threads and see who thought it would be normal for THill to regress to at least a sustainable level. He was over performing when he first got the starting gig at almost unreal numbers, regression was bound to happen. I think he went too far though.

I’ll also say it, I don’t think Downing is doing that bad.
He clearly showed some success when starters were still alive. Now that all starters but THill are dead, his playbook looks very predictable and simplified. Probably had to do that to keep guys that no one wanted ready to play after getting signed 2-3 days earlier.

Remember the last pre season game thinking holychit!!! We need a backup QB. Neither threw the ball well at all.
