Yes he always did well with the handoffs or screens. Not sure why we didn’t manufacture more touches for him.

Do you mean put it together as a pro bowl caliber player? Because for someone taken at 100 in his class, started off on a run first team, Jonnu has put together a solid career so far. Jared Cook has had several very good seasons as well.

I don’t think anyone would say Jonnu has had a “ solid “ career so far except for a solid payday based off of potential. He has never had more than 448 yards in a season and that was last year, a contract year. That’s not solid. 4.5 years and he only has 1578 yards. I don’t know if it’s his fault or the Titans/Patriots but his career so far with his talent has been disappointing, not solid.

He had 900 yards and 11 TD's his last two seasons in our run heavy offense, while playing TE by committee. For someone drafted with the 100th pick, I'd say he exceeded expectations.

I think you're really underselling Jonnu's importance. Not only as a receiver, but as a blocker as well. Having you're number 1 TE be both a weapon in the passing game and in the pass/run blocking game is huge.

I wouldn't say he is doing nothing in NE. His numbers this year averaged out over 16 games would basically equal last year's production. And he has another very good TE on the opposite side of him that he is has to share targets with. And Hunter Henry appears to be the go to red zone guy.

Was he overpaid? Probably. But NE was desperate for pass catchers and any decent pass catcher with a pulse was getting paid.

And I think you’re really overselling Jonnu’s value. 40 catches for 400 yards is nothing. Hell firkser did that last year too. Our run game hasn’t missed a beat without him either.

When you’re paid like Travis Kelce and Kittle but you don’t even get 500 yards that’s not good. And if you’re paying that much money for a “blocking” TE then LOL.

And what has Firkser done this year now that Jonnu is gone? You do realize that having a good catching TE opposite of you helps create more miss matches don't you? You think teams are really trying to focus in on Geoff frigging Swaim?

Henry is also averaging nearly a full yard less per game than 2020 as well, so saying the running game "hasn't missed a beat" is also not truthful. Tanne averaging less ypa as well less TDs too.

No one is saying he isn't overpaid. But acting like his value to this team is easily replaced is simply an ignorant statement.

A full yard less per game? Lol so he’s on pace for 17 less yards…. What a difference!

What has firkser done? Well he damn sure ain’t being paid $50 million. And despite missing 2 games due to injury he’s still put up similar stats to Jonnu :biglaugh:

Due to more carries. He averaging 4.5 ypc, compared to 5.4 ypc in 2020. That is very significant.

Similar stats to Jonnu? 11/95 is "similar" to 18/176? Jonnu literally almost has double Firkser's production.

Clearly math is not your strong suit.

Well first off you are calculating an entire season last year for Henry and only a partial season this year. Go ahead and compare stats first 7 weeks last year and first 7 weeks this year before all of those monster games vs Jags and Houston to end the year…

Can you not read? Firkser has missed 2 games. Since you want to talk about math….

Jonnu Smith is averaging 2.5 catches for 25 yards per game.

Firkser is averaging 2.2 catches for 19 yards per game.

    Class dismissed.
