Ok, so this is something I've been wanting to discuss. Does anybody else feel like we are pretty liberal with our use of the new IR rules. How many players do we put on IR for 3 games when they very well could be playing?

Aaron Brewer for example. Is he hurt so bad to warrant being away for 3 games knowing our OL woes?

IS this just a 1 year thing because of china virus?

I sometimes dont know what to make of these crazy roster rules... like where you can bring a guy back from IR, but like ONLY 1 guy

crap should not be so byzantine

He is referring to the 3 week IR which is nice because you don't need to take up a roster spot and can then bring up a guy from the PS. It is a good rule and they should keep it. Expanded PSs is nice as well. And any team can pick a guy off of another's team's PS if they put him on the regular roster. It helps teams who are unlucky with injuries and keep it more competitive.

My assumption on Brewer is that his injury is serious enough they knew he would miss 2 games at minimum so might as well IR him and promote Levin. The only negative is if Levin plays well but they need to move him back to the PS to make room for Brewer, in a couple of weeks, another team needing an OG/C might snatch him up. If I'm a GM I'm watching other teams activity especially at positions of need.

Both the expanded practice squad rules and the short term IR rules are great tools for teams and allow far more athletes the opportunity to play professional football. I hope they keep them. Zero complaints from teams and players so far.
