Rumor Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston?

This is what I thought too, only civil case so far, no criminal court which means no jail time possible (at least I think I’ve got that right)

 

Yes, a civil hearing will not result in him getting anything but having to write some big checks. He would have to be criminally charged. People are throwing the rope over the limb a little too quick. He may never, ever face criminal charges and be tried in a criminal court. If he loses the civil case, the NFL still has the power to sit him for pretty much as long as they like.

 

Well, at the moment, the Shield has been tarnished by happy endings and anus oil...

 

And he has essentially admitted to sleeping with one of them but it was consensual. But admitting you have used over 30+ masseuse and admitting to have slept with one isn’t necessarily the route I would chose if I was his defense attorney.

I don’t really think his lawyer is doing a very good job so far of casting doubt in the minds of anyone.

However, Buzbee is starting to implode on himself and is only helping DW right now.

 

Nope. NFL can suspend him on their own if they feel he violated their personal conduct policy. Doesn’t have to lose the trial.

There’s no way in hell the NFL would do that though. Especially in 2021. There would be way too much backlash. We’ve already seen tons of players come out and speak on this issue that were silent when other players had similar circumstances in the past.

I think the only way he gets suspended is if this becomes a criminal case (which it won’t because Buzbee is not going to turn over evidence) and he is convicted of a crime(s). They don’t want another Ray Rice situation.

 

I could see him getting suspended in 21’, I just don’t think it would be for a whole season.

I think the court case should probably reach conclusion too. I can’t recall if it’s happened yet, but has anyone been suspended prior to the case finale AND been proven innocent?

 

Im not sure to be honest. Don’t remember the entire timeline of Big Ben but I know he settled and was suspended.

But I think the NFL learned from Ray Rice situation they are going to slow to react instead of quick to react.

 

Yeah, Buzbee has painted himself into a corner with saying he was giving evidence to the HPD and then backpedaling.

Although, if I am not mistaken, at least 2 of the women would have very strong criminal cases against him. The SI woman who immediately called the woman who "booked" the appointment and told her story, and also immediately told her husband. And one other woman immediately told her friend and mother about what happened. I do believe that is the kind of thing they use in criminal cases.

 

Unfortunately, there is no way for him to "prove innocent". As far as a civil case goes (requiring less evidence), if he goes to court with 21+ women giving virtually the basic same story to 1 man saying they are all lying has very little chance of winning. Even throwing in his 18 women to say nothing happened with them isnt going to help much.. just looking at the comments from a few articles, they are all saying the same thing :"why did he need 40 different masseuses in 1 year", jury are people and they are going to think the same thing. Also, just because Jeffrey Dahmer didnt kill me doesnt mean he wasnt a murderer. Great for those 18 women that Deshaun didnt treat them like prostitutes, that doesnt mean he never treated anyone else that way.

 

Tsk, tsk, tsk. The NFL has the power at any time. But, the CONTEXT of the post is him getting jail time. It doesn’t matter if he wins or loses, the NFL can’t JAIL him, they can suspend today if they wanted. Posters need to look at context and not pull a phrase OUT of context just to be disagreeable. It is more likely that he gets off lightly if settled, if the case actually goes to trial and he loses, he will face a very heavy suspension.
