New team assumes his contract if we fade him. Plus, teams knew he was going to be released so why give up something when you can just wait until the release.

 

I get that but it was a "surprise cut" to many, so not sure how teams knew he would be released?

 

You get that deal when you realize JRob is a slightly above average GM.

The Bears did the exact same thing with Leonard Floyd last yr...they cut him the day before the new league yr began after having picked up his 5th yr option....Floyd was not included in the Bears comp pick formula...We will not get a comp pick for Adoree

 

With what money? If somehow this does happen, then it would probably have to be a multi-year deal to push back the cap hit AND someone like Saffold or Jones would have to be cut. Maybe restructure Byard and Lewan? Both have underperformed their contracts.

I'd rather keep the o-line intact than have Clowney.
