PFF is great when it supports my opinion and trash when it does not.

That seems to be the rule of thumb around here.

This is one of those cases where you need to keep track of specific posters. Some people go by PFF due to lack of other options for the super-metrics and some hate PFF cause half or more of their stats don't quite make sense or have little explanation how they came up with the number score for players.

just as an example, you can check my entire history here (no actual need) and you will find a pretty consistent standpoint of not liking PFF. Not a fan, don't use it to argue for/against any player's performance. Some people do.

That will help with some of your generalizations regarding the entire GT board.

Idk who this was directed at but I don't think I've ever used pff stats or co-signed them. It seems like a lot of their stuff is just "this guys the best because we said so and we watch lots of football!"

My beef with PFF as well. Don't follow them at all but in the Stats thread, PFF pops up a lot.

If there was some sort of explanation with some of the rankings, I may find it more useful, but without that, some of the rankings just seem so far out into left field I have a hard time taking them serious.

We really can afford to lose him if he wants too much. Evans and Long are fine. Would love to see Jayon back on a team friendly deal though.

We badly need someone who can cover. Jayon is probably our best bet there.

Also, if we don't sign him, there are some really exciting LB's that would make any team better than could be available for our first round pick - Micah Parsons, Zaven Collins, JOK from Notre Dame. I wouldn't be angry if we took Parsons or Collins, especially if we used them at edge some. Parsons came to Penn State as a DE and might be the best blitz LB that I've ever watched in college.

That's kind of helpful, but still doesn't really explain what makes the play a -2 to +2.

I mean there's guesses from an outsider to PFF what makes sense, but seems very subjective and still doesn't really explain some of those games where it seems like a player had an awful game but still ended with a high rank or a game played well, with a low ranking.
