some may have seen I was posting the question of the ageless wonder that is Frank Gore and if he will be a HoF in SB.
I’d say the answer is yes due to 15k yards and #3 all time BUT he is number 28 in TD with 79. I only point this out because Corey Dillon seems a pretty good comparison (albeit less yards) and he isn’t in and doesn’t look like it’s happening. Maybe more a Tony Dorsett (in) by the numbers.

I know SB can contribute but at one time, specifically around the time EG retired, I saw 10k as the sure fire mark to get in. Obviously wrong.
    Fragile Fred
    Dillon
    Steven jackson
    Ricky watters
    Jamal Lewis
    Warrick Dunn
    Tiki Barber
    Thomas Jones
    Ricky Williams
    EG
    (Possibly) Lesean McCoy
    (Possibly) Marshawn Lynch
Are not in and reached the mark (Otis anderson also missed but is an outlier for being 15 years before these guys)

From a TD point it appears 80 is the sweet spot with only Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, Dillon, Anderson Reaching w/o getting in.
    Lynch is a ?
    Peterson will get in.
Alexander reached 100 but stopped at 9453 yards.

This tells me there is somewhat of a sweet spot the HoF is looking for from RB and I can see the 12K/80 TD mark being that appx mark, it has to drop back down with RB getting pushed aside at 30 nowadays.

I could see it dropping to about 10K (maybe even less) and 70 TD for guys starting after 2012-ish.
    Shame for EG then.

    What do you think?
Of the guys that have played enough years to even make a guess at, I could see maybe Leven Bell, Todd Gurley, Zeke Elliott, and my surprising first candidate is Mark Ingram. (Outside Peterson, possibly lynch or McCoy)
There really isn’t much else until you start looking at really young guys that have to produce for a few years to even get consideration.

This is the perfect thread for me to say Jerome Bettis is the worst Hall of Player ever. No way in hell should a running back with less than 4.0 yards per carry be in the Hall of Fame.

He averaged over 4.0 YPC four times in his career. FOUR TIMES out of 13 seasons.

Of all the comments to come first, I can’t believe it was actually an agreement on the Bettis HoF status.
Very few, if any, people agree with me on that one. That fat s**t did get some TDs but he always fell forward and did that stupid head shake any time he passed 4 yards.
Pretty sure you chimed in on my dumb arguments thread, this is one I’ve had multiple times.

Imo the nfl needs to be far more selective. Only 3 people per year or so. There are already way 2 many players in the hof. By the time I die they will have 2 own half the city of canton to house all the dumb bronze heads they have added

That’s fair assessment on the Hall in general but you know they can expand up right?
Not to mention, they have at least that s***ty field they could mo down to expand the main building. Of course you might be planning on living to 300.

I'd like to think getting into the HOF has to be more than just numbers...Eddie for example was a big part of this team, the success, how he played the game, what he meant to his teammates.

Frank Gore's HOF case will be based on/and champion the story of Longevity and Availability. He is 3rd all time because he has broken the mold and consensus of an 8 year HB shelf life.

    He will get in.
