He can make up to 50.3m/yr with incentives, and I read that there are escalations in it after a few years to keep pace with an inflating salary cap.

Let’s see if they can still afford Chris Jones or have to trade him to us...

As of right now, the chiefs are between 3.5-6.2m under the 2020 cap with Chris Jones on the franchise tag (which he has refused to play under). They could surely sign him to a longer deal with less money in year 1 than the 16m he gets with the tag.
They're currently projected to have between 22-35m in 2021, but the following are all free agents (of their top 53):
    DL Chris Jones
    WR Sammy Watkins
    LG Duvernay-Tardif
    OLB Damien Wilson
    FS Daniel Sorenson
    CB Breshaud Breeland
    RB Damien Williams
    DE Tanoh Kpassagnon
    WR DeMarcus Robinson
    TE Ricky Seals-Jones
    RT Mike Remmers
    FB Anthony Sherman
    CB Antonio Hamilton
    RB DeAndre Washington
    DE Demone Harris
    DE Davaroe Lawrence
    RB Elijah McGuire
    CB Charvarius Ward
    RG Andrew Wylie
    TE Deon Yelder
    RT Jackson Barton
    QB Jordan Taamu
    CB Alex Brown
    OG Ryan Hunter
    WR Byron Pringle

They will be a powerhouse again in 2020, but 2021 is going to be a whole different team.

Yeah, my statement was all in fun based on the previous post about the Chiefs not being able to afford depth due to the Mahommes contract. Sorry to those who put effort in a response or a negative rating.

Thats not that interesting because you cant sign many of those names to those same rookie deals their bonded to right now. On the open market $45M can get you a lot, but a better list would include guys on contracts that were able to negotiate their current deals.

Just read an article about Prescott and how Mahommes contract affects him...

seems the new number for Dak is 39mil a year. Please Dallas, sign him for 5 years 39mil a year.

Exactly. It's not interesting to have a list full of first and second rounders on their rookie deals.

Here's my list of 2020 FA and their 2020 cap numbers:

    QB: Cam Newton - $1.1M
    RB: Todd Gurley - $5.5M
    RB: Ty Montgomery - $890K
    WR: Emmanuel Sanders - $4M
    WR: Geronimo Allison - $890K
    WR: Cody Latimer - $890K
    TE: Trey Burton - $910K
    OT: Cam Erving - $2.5M
    OT: Ty Sambrailo - $1.56M
    OG: DJ Fluker - $775K
    OG: Stefen Wisniewski - $1.24M
    OC: Ted Karras - $3M
    DE: Jihad Ward - $890K
    DE: Derek Wolfe - $3M
    DT: Gerald McCoy - $4.5M
    OLB: Aaron Lynch - $850K
    OLB: De'Vondre Campbell - $2M
    ILB: Kevin Minter - $890K
    ILB: Reggie Ragland - $890K
    CB: Nickell Robey-Coleman - $1.35M
    CB: PJ Williams - $1.05M
    FS: HaHa Clinton-Dix - $3.75M
    SS: Andrew Sendejo - $2.23M

The names are far, far less interesting - albeit there are a few value players in there for sure.

On paper that looks like a really solid group of names. If the NFL wants to add an expansion team you should throw your name out there.

39mil a year if he takes the same crazy long term deal that mahomes did, that would make sense. not if its a 4-5 year deal though.

its extremely likely that the normal "good" qb price surpasses 40mil when the new tv deals are agreed upon in a few years.
